Pahalgam Terror Attack: The political opposition members confronted the central government with probing questions throughout the parliamentary meeting on Thursday night about the deadly Pahalgam terrorist assault. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah organized the meeting which occurred one day after the government declared countermeasures against Pakistan.

The government implemented four multi-faceted responses against Pakistan: they lowered diplomatic status, dismissed all Pakistani military attachés, delayed implementation of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty and stopped land transportation across the Attari border and.

During the meeting the Opposition members focused their questions mainly on why security troops were not present at Baisaran in Pahalgam near the site of the attack. Parliamentary leader Rahul Gandhi officially led the question which received support from Rajya Sabha leader Mallikarjun Kharge together with Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh among others.

During the meeting Members of Opposition demanded to know why the forces responsible for security were absent from the attack site. Government officials noted that Baisaran area gets customary security protection before the beginning of the annual Amarnath Yatra which commences in June. Prior to the official opening of the route security forces begin securing every area of Baisaran for pilgrims who will travel to see the Amarnath cave shrine.

The authorities reported that the security forces did not arrive at the region until the pilgrimage season began on April 20 despite local tour operators leading visitors to the location beforehand. The government delegation at the meeting clarified how administrators were unaware during April 20 because the tour start date had been implemented without their notification thus troops remained absent.

Rival politicians questioned the reason behind the Centre’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty since India does not possess substantial water reservoirs.

A government official stated the suspension represented both a symbolic action and strategic step toward the future even though the immediate results were not the goal.

The government suspended the treaty for the purpose of displaying its decisive approach towards future actions. A significant message has served as the reason for this action. As per the government this decision reveals their firm position for future arrangements,” the authorities declared.

The opening remarks of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh focused on the present national security condition. During his 20-minute presentation Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka provided details about how the Pahalgam attack unfolded and the available intelligence information and the tactical measures adopted after this incident.

Many different political leaders joined the assembly session. The meeting included the presence of BJP President JP Nadda with Mr Kharge and Mr Gandhi as well as other political leaders. Participants from Supriya Sule (NCP-SP) through Tiruchi Siva (DMK) and Ram Gopal Yadav (SP) together with Praful Patel (NCP) and Sasmit Patra (BJD) and Shrikant Shinde (Shiv Sena) and Premchand Gupta (RJD) joined the meeting.

Lashkar Chief Hafiz Saeed’s Role Revealed In Pahalgam Terror Attack

The terrorist incident in Baisaran valley near Pahalgam resulted in the death of 26 people and made a long-operating terror group in Jammu and Kashmir present itself to the world. The deadly terrorist attack that occurred since Article 370’s repeal in 2019 has triggered government-level diplomatic actions and security measures aimed at Pakistan because this terrorist group operates out of Pakistan.

The terror operation originated from LeT extremists who employed mainly foreign members but received additional support from local militants, Valley ground workers and followed orders from Hafiz Saeed who masterminded the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and led LeT operations.

    The Module’s Past Operations

Security agencies believe the module has operated continuously in the Kashmir Valley since a long period. The security agencies state this terrorist group executed high-profile operations that struck multiple locations within Sonamarg and Boota Pathri and Ganderbal.

Four casualties occurred during a terrorist attack on Boota Pathri in October 2024 when two soldiers among the deceased. In the same month Sonamarg became a site of deadly violence when gunmen murdered both construction site tunnellers and a medical doctor. Hashim Musa stands as one of the main accused in the Pahalgam massacre yet security agencies suspect him of involvement in this attack.

The leader of the terrorist module Junaid Ahmed Bhatt who held A+ category status died in a Dachigam encounter as a Lashkar terrorist during December 2024. Members of the group who escaped ran into the surrounding wooded areas after the incident. The terrorists retreat to hidden forest bases right after major attacks while awaiting commands from their Pakistani handlers.

    Links to Lashkar Leadership

Hafiz Saeed who heads Lashkar together with his deputy Saifullah exercise direct control over this module which maintains its operations from Pakistan. The Pakistani military-operated Inter-Services Intelligence agency directs ideological guidance together with logistical and tactical instructions to this module through military channels.

The operational structure of this organization relies on local Kashmir supporters together with its main member base of foreign terrorists who receive logistical and tactical backing.

    The Pahalgam Attack

During Pahalgam terrorists executed assaults against three targeted points located in the Baisaran valley region. Sources from the police department indicate that five casualties from the attack group gathered at one site before the attack, two victims received fatal blows in a field setting and other shooting victims occurred in a fenced perimeter.

Those who escaped the fence by jumping received protection from the attackers. Several survivors claim that assailants carried on conversations with them before starting their deadly gunshots.

Three suspects responsible for the Pahalgam attack received their facial sketch releases from the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday. The attackers include two members who hold Pakistani nationality known as Hashim Musa alias Suleman and Ali Bhai alias Talha. Residing in Anantnag, Kashmir, Abdul Hussain Thokar stands as the third suspect in the Pahalgam attack. The police organization promised Rs 20 lakh to anyone who provides reliable information about the suspects.

Security forces found a repurposed hiding spot in adjacent forest areas which belonged to the operating module during their investigation on Thursday.

    Diplomatic Fallout

Security leaders gathered for an urgent meeting as Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). Members of the committee led by Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh together with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and senior intelligence and military personnel declared multiple retaliatory actions.

Diplomatic staff of both India and Pakistan must cut their numbers to 30 employees starting from May 1. The security forces stationed at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi have been marked as undesirable persons who need to depart India before one week elapses. All Indian advisors based in Islamabad have received orders to delete themselves.

The SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme now prevents Pakistani nationals from using it while all previously granted visas became invalid. All Pakistani citizens currently present under this visa exemption policy in India require 48 hours to complete an exit. The Attari-Wagah land border will stay indefinitely shut. The May 1 deadline sets the limit for Pakistani nationals who currently reside in India to get home.

Under current circumstances India decided to pause the execution of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty.

Thousands of protesters gathered in front of the Pakistan High Commission at Chanakyapuri diplomatic area of Delhi during Thursday. Security forces took a strong presence to handle the increasing number of demonstrators. The attack resulted in demonstrations which took place across Jammu and Kashmir as well as multiple other states of India.
