Yusuf Dikec an Olympic medalist who represented Turkey in the Paris Olympics, he clinched silver medal but the infamous thing associated with him is the kind of dressing code he adopted during the event. He wants to trademark his ‘stance going viral’. Turkey’s Olympic pistol competitor Yusuf Dikec is now seeking to protect that pose that spread across the entire globe during the Paris Games. Yusuf Dikec’s coach Erdinc Bilgili said that the move to protect the commercial use of his pose with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office was because others attempted to trademark it without Yusuf Dikec’s consent.

“After learning of many trademark registration processes conducted without Yusuf Dikec’s awareness, we filed an application about a week ago,” Bilgili told AFP noting thatthe”others have been declined”.

Nonchalantly cool: Yusuf Dikec’s poise led to Internet memes ranging from placing him into the character of fictional secret agent James Bond to reigning billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk imitating a video of the soccer star striking the famous pose.

His stance was also copied by many among the sportsmen because he bagged the silver,Turkey’s first medal in the event of mixed-team 10m air pistol with Sevval Ilayda Tarhan.

Other pieces of memorabilia featuring his image have flooded the market, most of which includes T-shirts and mugs and mobilephone covers, according to Turkey-based TRT Haber.

The Turkish trademark office has not yet provided comments to AFP’s request for comment.

“For me, this gesture is totally involuntary, normal,” he told AFP at the start of August when he was asked to explain the meaning behind the strategy he used during the game. Dikec said there was a scientific reason behind his positioning of his hands in his pockets.

“That is why it is done to make the body more stable, to balance it,” he said I only do it.

In addition, the banter Dikec and Elon Musk created a stir on X In response to this photo from the Paris Olympic event Dikec wrote ; Hi Elon, do you think future robots are going to be able to win medals at the Olympics with their hands in their pockets Such as this picture? How about discussing this in Istanbul the cultural capital of two continents? @elonmusk

Recently, the Chelsea footballer recently captured doing the Dikec’s viral pose while scoring a goal against Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. The Paris Paralympics held on Monday saw Indian archer Rakesh Kumar partnering Sheetal Devi to win the bronze in the mixed compound open archery event and he was compared to Dikec too.

“At that moment, everyone says I seemed very calm, but actually storms were raging inside me. I think my shooting pose represented the Olympic spirit very well: the fair play, simplicity, clarity and naturalness. That’s why it got so much attention I never needed that equipment I am a natural A natural shooter Dikec said in an interview to Turkish newspaper Haberturk.
