Shreya Ghoshal, planned to perform in Kolkata this month has decided that her concert will be deferred due to the recent rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Hospital in the state. In a detailed note on Facebook, the National Award-winning singer said that she was ‘shaken up’ by the ‘brutal’ incident and decided to fight ‘the evil lurking in the world’.
She was to perform in the All Hearts Tour concert on September 14 and has been the same concert moved to October.
“I am touched by the brutality that was recently witnessed in the city of joy, Kolkata As the lady was brutally murdered the thought is disgusting and painful to even imagine With a heavy heart and lot of grief I wish to postpone the concert ‘Shreya Ghoshal Live ,All Hearts Tour Ishq FM Grand Concert ‘ that was Scheduled on the 14 th of Sept 2024 to October 2024. ”
“I wish for the safety for all the women in this world and not only our country I hope my friends and fans will accept this decision and understand why we must go on with promoting this concert You are staying with my band and me, fighting against the evil of humanity Do bear with me while I announce for a new date This is reschedule Your tickets are still valid We’ll see you all I promise Love, prayers, and hope. ”

In her opinion, despite the fact that all the people were looking forward to the said concert, it was completely important for her to stage a protest and stand with the protestors on the matter.
“I want to be the voice of women in this world not only in this country I am appealing to friends and fans to accept our decision to move this concert,” she said. It brings a new aspect in the on-going protest across the country regarding the rape and murder tragedy.
The state government of West Bengal was recently offering an annual donation to organisers of the community Durga Puja and many of the latter for the next Durga Puja have stated to turned it down.
Another theatre group which is based in the Malda district of West Bengal has also refused to deposit the cheque given by the state government for arranging a theatre-fair in the district. Junior Doctors of different state run hospitals have been carrying forward the protests and cease work protest Against the Ghastly Tragedy.
