Japanese Man sleeps 30 minutes a day

Why A Japanese man sleeps 30 minutes a day ? A Japanese businessman named Daisuke Hori says he now spends only 30 minutes in bed every day and arguably has streamlined his existence for the last 12 years. Below is what professionals reckon concerning Hori concerning his or her sleep plan and if such a sleep plan can be implemented.

Sleeping is one of our most basic human physiological needs which is very vital in our day-to-day activity since it helps in maintaining health and well-being. It is common knowledge that human beings require about 7 to 9 hours of sleep in a day for them to be productive. But a Japanese man recently said that he had been getting just thirty minutes of sleep every day for the past twelve years. This sleep pattern has, according to the man, enhanced his ‘working productivity’.

    Insomnia: (A sleeping disorder)

Insomnia: claims to sleep for up to 48 hours a year; South China Morning Post or SCMP reports that a 40-year-old man Daisuke Hori from Hyogo prefecture in western Japan says he has trained both his brain and his body sufficiently for 12 years so that he can live with just 30-40 minutes sleep in a day.

This 40-year-old man from Hyogo Prefecture in western Japan said he had been training his body and mind to perform like a normal person with nearly no sleep and added that this has boosted his productivity.

    Mr. Daisuke Hori Says

why a japanese man sleeps 30 minutes a day

The South China Morning Post reported that Mr Daisuke Hori said, “If one exercises or drinks coffee before eating, say one hour before a meal, one need not worry of falling asleep for that meal.”

High quality sleep rather than long sleep, this standpoint, Mr Daisuke Hori, an entrepreneur, holds in his mind that concentration needs to sleep well. For instance, it quoted people who need longer concentration at work as benefiting from quality sleep than the long sleep such as doctors, firefighters, among others.

The truth behind japanese man sleeps 30 minutes a day

To understand the truth of Hori’s stories more, the Japanese Yomiuri TV Company invited him to take part in the reality show called Will You Go With Me? and followed him for three days. In the show, Hori only had only 26 minutes of sleep, she woke up refreshed, took breakfast, went to work, and even exercised.

This reality show for instance showed how Hori got only 26 minutes of sleep at night, woke up feeling so fresh and even proceeded to hit the gym.

“Those who need focus at work including doctors and firefighters are more benefited with quality sleep as compared to long sleep.” Hori said to the outlet.

On his online resume, Hori boasts of having trained more than 2,100 students to become ultra-short sleepers and one of the trainees, according to Yomiuri TV, said that she cut down her sleeping time from 8 hours to 13 minutes after being trained by Hori.

Doctor’s Point of View in sleeping 30 Minutes a Day

according to the specialists, it is not good to sleep for short intervals of time little often. .

“The human body needs longer durations of sleep to go through a full cycle of sleeping which includes light sleep, deep sleep and REM sleep which are crucial in healing the brain as well as the body.” Explained by Dr Ravi Shekhar Jha – Director, Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Faridabad.

However, apart from this weird sleeping pattern, Mr Hori started the Japan Short Sleepers Training Association in 2016, where he offers classes in sleep and wellbeing. As of now he has successfully trained more than 2,100 students to become ultra-short sleepers.

Another Man without Sleep for 60 years

In another yet very uncommon incident, an octogenarian Vietnamese man without sleep for 60 years, Thai Ngoc confesses to not having slept for 60 years or even more at all. Ngoc continues speaking about the fact that he developed a fever in 1962 and since then he had not been able to sleep. He has a problem with insomnia and no matter the type of therapy tried or the sleeping pills administered to him, the situation does not change.
