Selena Gomez from the American show ‘Only Murders in the Building’ set is one of the celebrities that cannot carry her own children owing to several risks. The 32-year-old said she had intended to have children before the age of 35.
“However, I have never said this, but I can no longer take care of my own children, I have a lot of medical problems that would endanger the life of the baby and myself, that was something that I grieved for some time.” Said the singer to the Vanity Fair magazine in the October issue.

- It is an autoimmune disease that was confirmed that she has been suffering from since 2015 whereby the immune system fights the body’s own tissues and organs. The next year she was also diagnosed with anxiety and depression. She was diagnosed with lupus and as a result, she had to undergo a kidney transplant in the year 2017. In a later part of 2020, the singer-actor was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Selena Gomez revealed that she is ready for it, at least in part because her own mother, the former stage performer Mandy Teefey, was an adoptee.
“I probably wouldn’t be here. I don’t know what her life would have been like…She and I are very thankful for how life has turned out.”
But nonetheless, her experience might not be similar but she may one day turn into becoming a mother, as an adult she insisted.
This has not happened exactly the way that I had expected it to be. When I realized it wasn’t happening, I expected it to happen like it happens for everybody. Yes, in fact I’m in a much better place with that. I always feel it is a privilege to have such wonderful people who are willing to come forward for surrogacy or adoption as both are enormous opportunities for me.
“It has kept me really grateful for the other options for those people who have the urge of becoming mothers one day. I am one of those people, I am looking forward to what that journey will be like but it will be different. At the end of it I don’t mind. Is the experience going to be perfect? No. Is it going to be my baby? Yes.
Selena Gomez has in the past not been shy about revealing that she was diagnosed with lupus, which is an incurable disease that affects the immune system of the body and makes it attack the tissue.
Conditions may be treated by responding to the signs or symptoms with drugs. In January 2017, Selena Gomez said she had to undergo a kidney transplant due to lupus, which is an autoimmune disease.
The singer is also known to have bipolar disorder which was talked about in her documentary; My Mind and Me.
In the interview that the singer made to Rolling Stone in 2022 Selena Gomez said that she may not be able to have a safe pregnancy because of the medicines she uses to treat bipolar.
During her recent interview with Vanity Fair Selena Gomez revealed that she would like to have children in future and is currently thinking about surrogacy or maybe adoption. Singer Ariana Grande’s mum, Joan Grande, is adopted and this according to Selena Gomez, is something that her family is thankful for.
In fact, the pop star’s wedding with music producer Benny Blanco has been public for more than a year but she revealed to the outlet that she has been thinking about how to be a parent even before she met Benny.
“I have been single for five years until I met my boyfriend, apart from few dated,” she said. “And I said okay if this is the feel then what do I care for the most, my family.”
In an interview with Howard Stern way back in mid this year, Benny revealed that having kids is “next goal on the box.”
In response, Selena Gomez said to Vanity Fair “He can’t lie” she laughed “After the interview I was dying laughing like anything else you wanted to put out there?”
About the couple’s touching and almost exhibitionist like passion, the “Same Old Love” singer revealed, “I’ve never been loved like this. He is just a light. A complete light in my life. He is my best friend. My confidant. I love telling him everything.
