Witnesses to the attack witnessed the event yet none of them intervened. Because of the injuries, the woman died. Krishna Kanojia, 30, an accountant at WNS Global – a BPO company in Yerawada, told police that his colleague, 28-year-old Shubhada Kodare, borrowed money from her saying that her father was ill and required treatment.
When he demanded Kanojia the return of the money, Kodare refused, claiming that her father had been sick and when she should corroborate sheer story of her father condition, he visited her native place only to discover that the old man was totally well, and not sick at all.
After 6 pm on Tuesday, he summoned Kodare to their office’s parking lot to discuss the matter regarding the returned cash. Refusing to return, it led to raging arguments, resulting in Kanoja attempting to cleave his colleague using a cleaver.
Several people who were in the parking lot saw Kanoja attack Kodare but did nothing to try and stop him. One or more of them even recorded the act. The woman was not found to have died but writhing on the ground, and after that, the weapon was thrown and he surrounded himself with many kicks.
“Kodare was admitted to a hospital with a grievous injury to the elbow. She was declared dead sometime around 9 pm on Tuesday. A case was registered and Kanoja has been arrested,” said a police officer.

Pune Tragedy: ‘Police Lacking Somewhere’
Pune Tragedy: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday indirectly warned the senior officers in Pune Police for not being able to combat crime in the city. The police may be, according to him, “lacking somewhere”.
Pune has faced several attacks lately by so-called ‘koyta’ gangs that derive their name from the kind of weapons they employ to hack their opponents.
When asked for a remark on such gangs, Mr. Pawar who happens to be an MLA from Baramati said, “I have seriously taken this on me too as a representative of this area. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who primarily is also charge for the Home portfolio, has seriously taken cognizance on these cases”.
“And everyone knows how there is no political interference in the work of police,” said the deputy chief minister to hold officers, as saying.
“Then out comes the indictment of cops sitting at the top in the hierarchy of the police force: it is a sign that they must be lacking somewhere if, despite providing the police with all the facilities literally available-in the form of infrastructure, housing, new offices, and manpower, it could not rein these crimes-in,” NCP chief was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
Why Pune Man Kills Colleague With Cleaver In Office Parking Lot?
The police reported on Thursday that colleagues at work murdered the 25-year-old man for insulting them thus consistently.
The police by a PCR call received on Tuesday night about foul smell coming out of a locked room. When a team reached the scene, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh, they found a decomposed male body. The deceased has been identified as Golu. A case was registered and started an investigation.
During the investigation, police found that Golu frequently made social media reels in the company of one of the suspects, Ranjeet (30), as per DCP.
“Scrutiny of Ranjeet’s social media account gave very vital leads; police raided several locations and arrested two suspects-Ranjeet and Neeraj Verma (23), both residents of Rampura,” said the DCP.
According to police, the victim and the two accused used to work at a tent house and later, at a footwear factory. He was known to scold and humiliate them, verbally and physically.
On one occasion, Golu hit the accused, giving further impetus to their disgruntlement. In their fury and in revenge for their disgrace, Ranjeet and Neeraj drew Golu to a particular location and killed him with a wooden stick, said the official.
Further inquiry into the matter is in process.
