Pakistan-India: Abdul Rauf Azhar, a most-wanted terrorist, was involved in the hijack of Indian Airlines IC 814 in Kandahar in 1999
In a claim the BJP has alleged, Abdul Rauf Azhar, the younger brother of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, was amongst the terrorists killed as India created terror infrastructure at Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir in the Operation Sindoor yesterday.

India yesterday conducted aerial precision strikes in nine spots in Pakistan and PoK over the revenge of the Pahalgam terror attack where 26 innocent civilians were killed with their blood on their throats. One of them was the Jaish headquarters in Bahawalpur.
The BJP released a post on social media site with the picture of Abdul Rauf Azhar and wrote “eliminated”.
Abdul Rauf Azhar, the most wanted terrorist, was the brain behind the hijack of Indian Airlines IC 814 in Kandahar in 1999. He was accused of Pathankot terror attack as well as the attack on Parliament 2001.
In the IC 814 hijack, an 190-people India Airlines plane from Kathmandu to Delhi was diverted to Kandahar and the Indian government was compelled to release three terrorists with the passengers released from them – who included Masood Azhar.
Yesterday a statement attributed to Masood Azhar said that 10 members off his family and four of his aides were killed when India targeted Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters, Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, in Bahawalpur.
“Ten members of my family were blessed with this happiness together tonight… five innocent children, my elder sister, her honorable husband. … My scholar nephew Fazil bhanje and his wife and my talented scholar Fazilah (my niece) … my dear brother Huzaifah and his mother. Two more dear companions, the statement said, those killed have become the guests of Allah.
According to the statement, Masood Azhar is not “regretful or condemned himself” over the deaths.
“Rather, it comes to my heart again and again that I too would have joined this fourteen-member happy caravan. Time for their departure had come, but the Lord did not kill them,” it said.
