It has emerged that former Miss Switzerland finalist, Kristina Joksimovic, was murdered and her body dissolved by her husband, Thomas, according to police in Switzerland. The couple’s 38-year-old former model wife was found dead on February 13 in the laundry room of their home in Binningen, two and half kilometers southwest of Basel according to Sky News. The reality is that during the investigation the relevant authorities established that the woman, Ms Joksimovic, was strangled to death. Her husband, a 41-year-old man known in local media only as Thomas was arrested and later proceeded to tell the police about the murder. It is also worth stating that on Wednesday the federal court in Lausanne dismissed his appeal for release.

An emotional part of the video was concerning Ms Joksimovic where an autopsy revealed that she was strangled which was also confirmed by Thomas during his confessional statement. her body was chopped into pieces using a jigsaw, knife and a garden shears in the laundry room. Some of her remains were allegedly later hacked with a hand blender, then ‘liquefied,’ and dissolved in a chemical bath per report from Basel local media.
Thomas says that his wife died because of his shooting in defense since she confronted him with a sharp knife. It is said that after the murder he went into a frenzy and decided to cut up her body.
However, medical-forensic reports are in disagreement with the events Thomas narrated as self-defense. Legal researchers have pointed out that the investigators have claimed to have “concrete indications of a mental illness” in Thomas and that the former has been referred to as “sadistic.” The investigators also attest that Thomas had an “unusually high level of criminal energy, no empathy and was cold-blooded” after the death of his wife.
The prosecutors also went further and revealed that Thomas had once tried strangled his wife to death. Also, one of the employees reported that the beauty queen told him that one of the partners threatened to kill her and one day chocked her till she almost lost her consciousness and threatened to thrown her head against the wall.
Who was Kristina Joksimovic?
Of Serbian origin, growing up in Binningen, Kristina Joksimovic successfully tried her hand at modelling; in 2003 she was the holder of Miss Northwest Switzerland title; in 2008, she was a finalist for the title of Miss Switzerland. She then pursued coaching where she assists models and professional business women to be confident the way they appear in public and during business meetings. Also, she managed to run a coaching agency and worked the IT recruitment ground.
Husband’s self-defence claim
Thomas testified that he was an acting in self-defense; he said that Kristina assaulted him with a knife. But medical reports of the case go against this claim by the man. An autopsy showed how she was cut into pieces and this raised questions over his defence that he was acting in self defence. In an appeal granted to Federal Court in Lausanne, the application for release from custody was refused with reference to “concrete signs of mental illness” and “cold bloodedness” of the man after the murder.
Investigators said that Thomas had sadistic-sociopathic behavioral patterns and was indifferent towards his victims during all the episode.

Kristina and Thomas had been in marriage since 2017, and by looking at their lifestyle and luxurious house it could be seen that they were rich. Aftershock of the unfortunate incident, the couple was pictured enjoying their vacation where Kristina even posted pictures of their trip only four weeks before the incident. Though a friend close to the couple said the two had been having marital issues for several months.
It has been widely reported that the police has responded to incidents of domestic violence in this couple’s home in the past, a fact that allows inferring that the couple was far from happy behind the scenes.
Arrest and investigation
It was third party who discovered Kristina’s corpse, while Thomas was arrested the following day. He still stands detained while police try to establish and link events that lead to this terrible crime. This particular case has been quite a sensitive issue to the Swiss as many have queried as to what could have gone wrong in this hitherto happy marriage.
