Kris Kristofferson the renowned actor and country music singer-songwriter passed away at his home in Maui on 28th September 2024.
A representative of the star said that he was surrounded by his family when he died peacefully at his home in Maui on Saturday, 28th September.
Dolly Parton wrote on Social media, “What a great loss. What a great writer. What a great actor. What a great friend.”
She finished her social media post by saying, “I’ll always love you”, and giving a nod to one of her most famous songs.
Barbra Streisand said that “she knew he was something special” when the first time she saw him performing.

In the film, both Kris and Barbra sang together on love theme Evergreen, which won an Oscar for the best original song. And Kristofferson won a Golden Globe for his acting.
In 2019 at London’s Hyde Park, Barbra Streisand also asked him to appear on stage with her.
She wrote on her Instagram that, “He was as charming as ever, and the audience showered him with applause. It was a joy seeing him receive the recognition and love he so richly deserved”.
Kris Kristofferson was quite known for his songwriting. His most notable credited songs are Me and Bobby McGee, and Help Me Make It Through the Night and many others.
Chief executive of Country Music Hall of Fame Kyle Young said in a statement that, “He created a body of work that gave not only to his soul but ours”.

The statement given by a representative about him being passed away peacefully described Kristofferson as “ a peacenik, a revolutionary, a superstar, an actor, and a family man.”
His family said in a statement that they all are so blessed for the time they had with him. They also appreciate the people for loving him all these years.
Singer LeAnn Rimes added her tribute by posting a photo of the pair with a message saying “An epic human with the biggest heart.You will be so, so missed. Rest easy, my friend.”
Melissa Etheridge paid her tribute by saying,”Loved this man, his talent, his mind and his beautiful heart” on a social media post.
Kris Kristofferson’s Life
He was born in Brownsville, Texas on 22 June in 1936. He became a leading figure when started country music.
According to the family message he said, “When I got started, I was one of the people hoping to bring respect to country music”.
He also said that “ Some of the songs I had that got to be hits did that. I imagine that’s why somebody might vote me into a Hall of Fame. I know it’s not because of my golden throat.”
Kris Kristofferson studied writing at Pomona College in California. And later, he went to Oxford as a Rhodes scholar. In1960, he earned his masters from Oxford and then returned to the US and joined the army.
In the military he was assigned to teach literature for which he said “sounded like hell”.
He visited Nashville in 1965. And within two weeks had resigned from his army post and moved to the country music hub to pursue his music career.
The Country Hall of Fame and Museum’s head said that he left behind “ a resounding legacy”.

Including Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, Lone Star and the Blade franchise, his acting career saw him take on numerous roles.
Kristofferson also starred as John Norman Howard in “A Star Is Born” opposite Barbra Streisand’s Ester Hoffman.
Kris Kristofferson was nominated for an Oscar in 1985 for best original score of Songwriter.He was co-starred with Willie Nelson in that.
In the same year, Nelson and Kristofferson joined Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash to form a supergroup called “The Highwaymen”.
Referring to his former job at CBS’s Nashville studio, Kristofferson told a journalist named Mikal Gilmore that, Everytime he looked at a picture of him with Willie, John and Waylon, he found it amazing that they let the janitor in there.
The Americana Music Association gave the Free Speech Award to Kristofferson in 2003.
A year after that, Kristofferson became a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Kristofferson received multiple lifetime achievement honours in his life, including the Academy of Country Music, The Recording Academy and the Country Music Association.
Kris Kristofferson led a good life with his wife Lisa and his eight children and seven grandchildren.
