Kashmir terror attack updates:
On Wednesday after a terror attack in Pahalgam Jammu and Kashmir India declared multiple drastic steps against Pakistan by choosing to suspend water distribution regulations under the Indus-Water Treaty.
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi presided over a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting based on the security situation following a violent attack that took 25 Indian lives and one Nepalese person. This assault stands as the most fatal event in Kashmir since the terrorist strike in Pulwama in 2019.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri informed reporters during his conference that India would deny Pakistan access to the SAARC visa exemption scheme. The Indian government considers all past SVES visas given to Pakistani nationals automatically nullified. The seriousness of this terrorist attack led the CCS to implement these measures according to the Foreign Secretary.
The Indus Waters Treaty from 1960 stands temporarily suspended as Pakistan needs to demonstrate permanent rejection of supporting cross-border terrorist activities.

The designated posts at High Commissions now possess the same status as annulled positions. Both High Commissions must withdraw five support staff members who serve Service Advisors.
The number of staff in both High Commissions will decrease to 30 employees as part of the overall organization reduction efforts intending to take effect starting on May 1, 2025.
The CCS conducted an evaluation of the general security environment before directing all protective forces to actively monitor fields closely. The group decided to pursue justice for the attackers with identification of their backers as responsible parties. India maintains absolute determination to hunt down terrorism perpetrators including Tahawwur Rana since his recent extradition from Pakistan.
“Leave In 48 Hours,” India Tells Pakistanis On SAARC Visa
Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam which killed 26 people the Center announced through a statement for Pakistani nationals to be restricted from India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme. Pakistanis holding such visas have to vacate India within 48 hours from their entry.
