Rohit Sharma led a team meeting with Indian Cricket Team and India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir responded as the preparation of Bangladesh series begun where bowling coach Morne Morkel will be inducted for the first time. India may have begun preparation for the home season in Chennai on Friday but were completely bowled over by Morne Morkel’s height. India will get their World Test Championship campaign back on track with a two Test series against Bangladesh beginning from September 19. Earlier than that, the squad members reported to Chennai for a pre-tournament preparatory camp which commenced with the supervision of head coach Gautam Gambhir.

The Indian team resumed their cricketing activities after a month’s long gap and some players including Shubman Gill, Axar Patel and KL Rahul had a participation in round one of Duleep Trophy.
The Indian team will have to perform in the upcoming 10 Test matches as they are only on the edge for competing in the WTC final that is scheduled in June 2024 at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
They are scheduled to play with Bangladesh at home, then with New Zealand in Test series which is going to be a 3 Test matches series. One of the big tests for both sides will be the five match Border Gavaskar Trophy series beginning in November this year.

Bowling department will be looked after by Morkel. The former South African fast bowler who has been appointed as the bowling coach of Indian cricket team in replacement of Paras Mhambrey will start his tenure with Indian Cricket team with the series against Bangladesh. He was Gambhir’s first choice for the bowling coach after having first developed the relationship with him during his time at the Lucknow Super Giants during the IPL.
Besides having been one of the most effective South African pacemen during his career, Morkel boasts of brilliant records as a bowling coach. He is aptly considered to have done a great work with Pakistan’s Naseem shah and Haris Rauf pacers when he was involved with the PCB the last year.
It will be quite interesting to know how he starts a combination with players like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. He will also find chances to groom young seamers such as Akash Deep, and Yash Dayal who has been selected in the Indian team for the first time for the series against Bangladesh.
The Indian Cricket team is currently on top of the table with 68. 52 percentage points whereas Australia comes second with 62 percent. 50 percentage points.

The Indian team is set to see two of its important players including Virat Kohli and Rishabh pant after a long haul in Test cricket. Kohli was last seen in India colors during the South Africa tour which took place in December and January. He was not able to be selected for the entire England series at home because of some issues of his own. Pant, however, is back to Test cricket after the format for the first time since Cambodia 2022.
WTC points for the two matches are up for grabs as Indian Cricket Team gear up for a challenging 10-Test season that the board has planned as part of which they will host New Zealand in 3-Test and toured Australia for five-Test Border-Gavaskar series this year.
