One senior Bengaluru police officer is in the news for sexually harassing a businesswoman for offering a bribe and contributing to her suicide. It’s however possible to identify the woman as S. Jeeva.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kanakalakshmi – who probed the case at the time – is said to have stripped the 33-year-old woman, demanded a bribe of ₹25 lakh and allegedly insulted her in front of others, says an NDTV report. The victim left a death note to her husband stating that the police officer was harassing her and wanted to be bribed.
The report observes that the deceased was a professional lawyer, who owned a wood material shop in Karnataka’s capital and had been accused in the Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation scandal. According to the Indian Express S Jeeva’s sister went to the police station and lodged a complaint after she discovered her sister had been killed.
The CID has then formally taken the charge to investigate the Karnataka Bhovi Scam. The Karnataka High Court has allowed CID to question S Jeeva between November 14 and November 23 through videoconferencing. But the probe agency wanted her to come in person.
S Jeeva suicide – stripped victim ₹25 lakh bribe and reveals death note
S Jeeva’s residence an 11-page death note which contains allegations of bribery and harassment committed by Crime Investigation Department (CID) Officer. While the investigation of the crime was ongoing, the police in Bangalore filed a case against the main suspect.
According to the suicide note, S Jeeva was taken to the CID office for an interrogation on 14th of November were she was harassed, stripped and asked if she had cyanide on her. It did not end their through torture as the police officer rejected the documents forwarded by S Jeeva and demanded ₹25 lakh as bribe.
The victim also had to go through the harassment which that she received for the days that followed the interrogation at the CID office. One fine day, the police officer visited S Jeeva’s shop and humiliated her in front of her employees, according to the FIR. S Jeeva reportedly committed suicide on November 22.
The harassment allegedly continued for the next few days. According to the FIR, the police officer visited S Jeeva at her shop and humiliated her in front of her employees.
