After 29 years of marriage, Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, and his wife Saira Banu declared they are filing for a divorce on Tuesday. Folks who worship IS‘AR’ Rahman appear to be in a state of euphoria since all appears well with them in their respective worlds.
Expressing his views in an X post a day after Saira Banu’s lawyer announced his divorce, AR Rahman said. AR Rahman emerged as a target on the Internet as he pulled off the #arrsairaabreakup stunt with the post. When we came to know about the news of separation, our very own AR Rahman wrote, ‘We aimed for thirty, but it seems all things come with a hidden end.’

A day after Saira Banu’s lawyer’s divorce announcement, AR Rahman shared his thoughts in an X post. AR Rahman drew flak from the Internet as he used #arrsairaabreakup with the post. Confirming the news of separation, AR Rahman wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”
The Internet was not impressed with the hashtag at all, and the comments section is swamped with negative remarks.

On Tuesday night, the lawyer of Saira Banu, Vandana Shah and Associates wrote a statement where she said, “After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira and her husband Mr. Rahman A R have decided to go separate ways from each other – it is as painful as going for a surgery to remove cancer.
Giving this much-needed reason behind this big move, the statement stated, “Though the couple has always professed deep love for each other, they have realized that the pressures and stress have resulted in building an unfordable gap between them, a gap which the couple feels cannot be bothered by either of them at the moment,” it added, stating, “Mrs. Saira and her husband Mr. A R.
Rahman ask the public to allow them space and support them during this testing period as they try and overcome this phase in their lives.
Musical legend AR Rahman married actress Saira Banu on March 12, 1995. The couple has three children, Khatija, Raheema, and a son Ameen.
In an interview he said his mother and his sister first saw Saira at the shrine of the Sufi saint Moti Baba in Chennai. “My mother said she knows nothing about Saira or her family But they decided to go and talk to her since they lived in five houses from the shrine.” It all progressed very smoothly,” he noted.

The Indian film composer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu filed a case for divorce after 29 years of marriage on Tuesday evening. To everyone’s shock, just as the effort seems to be paying off, bassist of AR Rahman’s band Mohini Dey also disclosed her divorce from her husband Mark Hartsuch, a composer.
Both Mohini and Mark took to Instagram to disclose the news in a single post. They typed, “Dear friends, family, fans and followers, Mark and I wants to share some sad news- we are no longer together. First, as a friendly/ family care, it is a reciprocal relationship that we both understand. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed.”
Hailing from Bardhaman, West Bengal, Mohini Dey has backed AR Rahman in more than fourty shows internationally and coming August 2023, she is bringing out her own independent music album ‘Mohini Dey’.
Apart from working with AR Rahman, the talented Mohini Dey has shared stage with great musicians including Zakir Hussain, Ranjit Barot, Steve Vai and Guthrie Govan. Popularly acclaimed as the world’s one of the most successful Indian bass players globally, Mohini has been a lifelong music enthusiast.
