Dwayne Bravo, the all-rounder from the West Indies, hangs up his boots for the sport and he is set to become KKR’s most recent mentor before the IPL 2025. Dwayne Bravo was associated with Chennai Super Kings ( CSK) from 2011-2022 and then has become the bowling coach for CSK in 2023. However, the all-rounder decided to join KKR for the new season and he will be in charge of all franchises under the Knight Riders label in T20 leagues: CPL: Trinbago Knight Riders, MLC: Los Angeles Knight Riders, ILT20: Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.
CSK has reacted on its social media handles to congratulate Bravo after he made a public announcement on his retirement.

Caribbean Premier League Bravo was limited to his last season with Bravo because he was injured earlier this week. “Today is the day I thank the game that gave me all,” he posted on IG on Thursday evening.

Finally, I could live my dream and I owe it to you – father, mother, wife, husband – you got 100 at every step. If I hear one more lame excuse, lady, I’d like to deal with reality.”
Dwayne Bravo had pulled out of international cricket in 2021 while retiring from IPL at the end of the previous year. He has since given coaching a try; he has coached the Chennai Super Kings and the Afghanistan men’s cricket team.
Therefore, the addition of Dwayne Bravo to our team is good news. His obsession with winning and his experience along with strong knowledge will prove beneficial to both our franchise and players,” said Knight Riders Group CEO Venky Mysore via a media release on Friday.
We’re also glad that Dwayne Bravo will be involved with our other franchises around the world, including CPL, MLC, and ILT20,” Mysore said.
CSK fans disappointed
The fanbase of Chennai Super Kings has been disappointed knowing that Dwayne Bravo, who is a key player for CSK, have moved to the Kolkata Knight Riders as their mentor in the IPL 2024 season. Bravo, a T20 icon and one of the mainstays of CSK over the years due to its multiple title-winning seasons, he retired from the overall forms of cricket due to injury during the 2024 CPL season.
In an emotional video message, he bid good bye to the sport just hours after which he was back in IPL by joining KKR as a mentor ahead of 2025 IPL season. The announcement has angered some portion of CSK’s dedicated fan base. Bravo the who had become part of the ‘yellow brigade’ was central to CSK’s success over the last decade and half as he applied the breakthroughs, the match turning performances and even slammed the final blows in tense moments.
Within a few minutes, Twitter feed was flooded with reaction from CSK fans, most stating that they could not believe that one of their own had defected to the opposition with a purely technical role. Another fan wrote: After all that Dwayne Bravo did for the CSK franchise Bravo deserved a role with CSK. It is disappointing to see him with KKR.”

Bravo is expected to formally replace Gambhir of the KKR’s former captain and also a key mentor in the new change intended to make KKR a unstoppable force in the forthcoming IPL sessions.
