For all new important features updates Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal uses X (formerly Twitter) account. The same applied to another feature update called ‘Food Rescue’ by Goyal on November 10, 2024. This feature tries to eliminate food wastage in Zomato by redirecting cancelled foods to other people.
In explaining the feature to its viewers, Goyal said, “Now, those who change their mind or cancel the order, the next-door guy can get it at the lowest price, in the original untouched packaging, and all in minutes.”
A Zomato CEO kept some thoughts that many of the X users liked the new feature and some of them came up with some ideas while one X user remarks really impressed the CEO. The X user named Bhanu shared some pointers to prevent misuse of this new feature:
- Should not be applicable to COD if the payment is made by credit card.
- The delivery should not be canceled if the delivery is 500 meters to the delivery point
- Chances of 2 idiots sharing meals ordering and cancelling at the same time getting a discount place
- More than one cancellation in a month or continuous canceling is prohibited.
After that Zomato Offers Job to X User. The suggestions made this particular CEO sit up in irritation and he invited the X user to ‘work with him’. This and more were already in placed according to Goyal.” Good thinking, by the way. Tell me who you are, what you do, and why you do it? LOL Would love to know you more and see if we can do business? :Type me the message, if you feel like talking more, hey.”
When Zomato offers job to X User, The user replied to the offer to work for the food delivery company saying ‘Thanks a lot’. I am from Bangalore. Regularly use Blinkit. I often make suggestions to improve services and often try to tag your company on twitter. Business as always thinking how to minimize such negative effects while making a move to enhance service provision. Employment within a startup as a PM.”

Zomato offers job to X user, who is based in Bengaluru and works as a product manager in a startup company said that he frequently employ the BlinkIt service and continuously provides feedback to enhance services. He said he has always wanted to minimize the negative effects and but enhance service provision.
Goyal’s reply forced the floodgate of the response. Some proposed further adding a feature of scheduling orders while another proposed recently that people who are cancelling orders should not be prioritized as a form of penalty.
A contributor proposed that the person who cancels the order should be given the option of whether they would wish Zomato to admin the cancelled order or perhaps donate such to the needy. The last proposal received from one of its users was about creating ‘wall of kindness’ or ‘food bank’ which is an effective practice in a number of countries.
Through the Food Rescue function in Zomato we can cancel an order and it will again appear on the application for customers who are within 3 km of the delivery partner.
This pop-up will appear for limited time only to provide customers only fresh products. The customers can then book the cancelled order at an offer price much lower than the original price. Customers, who canceled the order, and those nearby will not view this offer.
Goyal mentioned that even though there are clear cut rules and regulations such as no cancellation there are over 4 lakh perfect good orders which are returned every month.
