Socialist NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani partied hard in his empty nester dream honeymoon with his family after celebrating their nuptials in a luxurious three-day wedding at an exotic, posh yet isolated Ugandan home barn he shares with the rest of the relatives.
This week heavily fortified gates of the congested, exclusive compound located in well-to-do Buziga Hill precinct beyond the capital city of Kampala was tight with people dressed in military-revolutionary style, wearing masks, as guests trotted in to revel at goodie-goodie gyms till the wee hours of the night as witnessed by local sources of the town who asked not to be named because of security concerns.
Mamdani, 33 ran off with artist/ animator Rama Duwaji, 27 in February.
He informed his social media followers on Sunday that he was traveling back to his motherland to rejoice with his rich film maker mother and father who are also professors and are the owners of the property on the Buziga Hill.
The area consists of some of the wealthiest in Uganda with such people like Godfrey Kirumira Far-Right, a Ugandan billionaire businessman, a city tycoon with interests that include real estate, tourism, petroleum and infrastructure development, and the homes on it border the Mamdanis can easily sell at over 1 million dollars.

The house has an off-the-road location surrounded by two acres of green gardens fastened with trees, a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Victoria, more than three security gates.
This week they turned it into a party pad, and Christmas lights were hung up into the canopy of trees in the garden as well as loud music playing, sources said. Buses, a number of Mercedes and a Range Rover 4 drove to the compound on Tuesday.
Sources said, security was tight.
According to one witness, more than 20 guards manned by the special forces command unit, some of them in masks, surrounded the Mamdani house, a phone-jamming system was put in place and it was all made in good measure just to ensure that only the guests were invited to the Mamdani event.

They added, there were about nine guards at one gate.
Nair, 67, and her husband Mahmood Mamdani, a 78 year-old anti-Israel political theorist live on the estate and spend part of their time in New York and New Delhi. On his Instagram page, Nair shows one post, which tells about a coconut tree planted at the moment of birth of Mamdani.
Although his ancestors were Ugandan, Mamdani was born in Kampala but relocated to New York when he was 7 years old where he would later become a U.S citizen in 2018. He recently made his marriage to an illustrator called Duwaji earlier this year. The couple found each other on the dating app, Hinge and live a rent-lined apartment in Astoria.
Thursday riders got to enjoy their fruit juices which is a common feature in events of the Indian style and also danced to the beats of a local DJ
According to one of the witnesses, NYC Democratic mayoral nominee could clearly be heard through a microphone talking to the guests later that night, and the party continued past midnight.
and they said there were the military style tents being dismantled on Friday inside the compound when the party had finished. Then Mamdani personal security guards replaced them at the gates.
There was also the presence of flowers that were left in a heap on the ground at one of the security gates.

It is a secluded home, such that the inhabitants of the area did not even know anything about the three days wedding extravanganza.
Another resident added, Mamdani was being discussed by local children who watched him on television and everyone discussed him, not the wedding. In our case, it is only a question of survival. We are simply trying to earn the bread and ensure our families are fine.”
Another added, We had heard that Mamdani was going to be Mayor of New York and he had made it in America. We wish we knew today whether we can get free visas to U.S. and can go to New York like he did.

Even though the Mamdani family was marking a happy occasion neighbors were mourning the death of former Ugandan Supreme Court Judge George Kanyeihamba who had lived a stones throw away Munyonyo where the Mamdani family is based and who died July 14.
And so did the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni who reportedly went to pay his own respect to Kanyeihamba and it is reported that he had to block the street by the President cars.
Others termed the wedding party of Mamdani as insensitive.
One of them who spoke to The Post said, due to the culture in this country, it was not polite to hold a wedding in the same week as a mourning ceremonial as they say it here, Okukungubaga.
The person went on to add that: people are still mourning and that was in the direction of the home of Kanyeihamba which is some three minutes away of the Mamdani property.
The source said, “He has not yet been laid to rest and we have his friends visiting him to see him off before the burial the coming week but Mamdani is going to celebrate his wedding three days,” the source added.
Whether museveni also attended Mamdani or not is not clearly brought out.
Mamdani declined a request to comment with The Post.
In an Instagram video, the Queens assemblyman confirmed that he was remaining in Uganda till the end of the month.
