    New Uttar Pradesh Media Policy has been Introduced To regulate the content that will be generated from now on moving forward will be overseen and also new payment form is set up for different social platforms.

    “The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday approved a new social media policy designed to regulate content on platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube. This policy outlines procedures for managing objectionable social media content and requires legal measures to be taken.

    Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet gave its approval to the Uttar Pradesh Digital Media Policy, 2024, which was prepared by the state’s information department.”

    “The government has decided to list agencies/firms to give advertisements to promote them for making and displaying content through a digital medium like tweets/videos/posts/reels about schemes and achievements of the U.P. Government which will help in employment opportunities to citizens of the state,” reads a press note issued by the Principal Secretary, information department, Sanjay Prasad.” As Reported The Hindu.

    According to the new Uttar Pradesh Media Policy, posting anti-national material is considered a serious offense with strict consequences, including penalties that could extend from three years to a life sentence. Previously, similar actions were managed under Sections 66E and 66F of the Information Technology (IT) Act, which pertain to breaches of privacy and cyberterrorism respectively. 

     The official statement stated further with the mentions that sharing obscene or defamatory content online could lead to criminal defamation charges, emphasizing the legal consequences of abusing digital platforms.

    According to this new Uttar Pradesh Media Policy, sharing of government schemes, initiatives, projects, and achievement-based content will be encouraged by giving advertisements across social media platforms and taken under good consideration. 

    Influencers can earn up to Rs 8 lakh per month on social media by sharing the government’s schemes and initiatives on their platforms

    The new Uttar Pradesh Media Policy will also provide possible employment opportunities for social media influencers for them to work further and share the government initiatives Furthermore.

    V-Form’ agency to handle digital advertisements as appointed by the government to handle all the media that goes through the channel such as tweets, videos, posts, reels and other content.

    The policy has also introduced specific payment limits for social media platforms and influencers, account holders, and operators to regulate earnings. For platform X, the maximum amount an individual can receive per month is  Rs 5 lakh. On Facebook it is  set at Rs 4 lakh, while Instagram has a limit of Rs 3 lakh per month.

    On YouTube, the policy provides different views that will depend on the type of content. For standard videos, the maximum permissible payment is Rs 8 lakh per month. Content creators producing shorts can earn up to Rs 7 lakh, whereas those generating podcasts are limited to Rs 6 lakh. Other types of content on YouTube can only earn upto 4 lakh.

    It seems that regulating the content that is generated on media is the goal for this new policy and to promote the government actions and initiatives and their respective projects.
