US election 2024
The poll that was carried out on two first days of November was based on 2,400 likely voters in the United States, most of them women.
That’s mean that the attention during the final days of the 2024 Presidential US Election turns to swing states, the states which play the decisive role in the US election.
A second poll of swing states means that the Republican nominee is expected to be victorious in all swing states, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
The counties also show the largest percent split in the state where Trump leads with 51.9% against 45.1% for Harris in US election.
In Nevada, if people were asked for whom would they vote in the next presidential election, 51.4% voters opted for Trump while 45.9% chose Harris.
When it comes to North Carolina, Trump received 50.4% of the vote, while Harris has only 46.8%.
In the US, presidential elections are shaped by three types of states: Conservative states, liberal states and the battleground states. Red States are those which have been held by Republicans since the election of 1980, and Blue States are those that have been held by Democrats since the election of 1992. These states, in most cases, are thought to be safe when it comes to the election results.
Swing states are states where the Republicans and the Democrats are in very close contest, such that the winner competes the other by very skinny margins. For example, Joe Biden in the recent 2020 presidential election there was only about 10,000 separating him from his rival in the state of Arizona.
See for instance, the global news agency Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted and released last week on October 29, which showed Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump by a very close one percentage point; 44% to 43% representing the Democrats and Republican respectively.
Notably, however, although Harris has consistently trailed Trump in all seven Reuters/Ipsos polls of registered voters conducted since she launched her campaign in July, her lead has been gradually narrowing since late September.
