The Bolangir school mathematics teacher Prakash Bhoi attended classes with an IV infusion stuck to his body due to enforced school attendance.

Teacher Reports to School with IV Drip after grandfather’s funeral in Odisha
Bhoi stated that his health declined after performing funeral rites for his grandfather which led him to ask Principal Bijayalakshmi Pradhan for recovery leave. However, his request was rejected. Bhoi attended his school-shift without medical care because financial challenges forced him to make this decision.
The principal directed Bhoi to meet the District Education Officer (DEO) and District Project Coordinator (DPC) of although his health grew worse due to the instruction. The principal demanded that Bhoi return by 2 pm when he requested permission to see a hospital.
A government hospital was located distant from his location while he lacked sufficient funds for a private hospital treatment. My UPI was also not working. I thereafter went back to work without medical care since the office remained open until late evening. Bhoi explained. I asked for permission multiple times but the principal refused to allow me leave.
Struggling health, denied leave again
The medicine Bhoi took during the night failed to improve his health condition. The staff member asked a second time for permission to leave work yet received the exact denial as his first attempt. Bhoi reported that the principal required attendance for preparing upcoming exams according to his claims. Bhoi had no other option but to get an IV drip treatment from a doctor before he attended school in a dangerously ill state.
The colleagues at Bhoi’s workplace recognized his health decline so they hastened him to hospital for prompt medical assistance.
Authorities launch investigation
The Block Education Officer from Patnagarh, Odisha, Prasad Majhi disclosed that the implicated instructor asked permission for an absence through an informal leave petition to his superior officer. The teacher currently complains about not being allowed to take his scheduled leave period. An official investigation is underway to determine the responsibility of any involved authority. The authorities guarantee that strong consequences will be imposed in case of evidence against anyone.
