On Wednesday the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supported the Waqf (Amendment) Bill through Lok Sabha while requesting the central government to increase state control over waqf board member selection in rule-based decisions.
The Telugu Desam Party makes it a priority to support Muslim community welfare together with their development and right protection. Moreover I ask the government to provide state governments with control over selecting members for their waqf boards according to their needs,” TDP MP Krishna Prasad Tenneti stated in the Lok Sabha meeting about this waiver bill.
Under the new proposal the bill introduces two non-Muslim representatives for both central and state waqf boards to increment religion-based inclusivity. Muslim organizations together with their leaders have firmly rejected this proposal since Hindu temples maintain absolute control over their administrative leadership.
The welfare of Muslim community depends on allowing states to control waqf board membership through the Andhra Pradesh Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act that already exists in Andhra Pradesh. TDP’s commitment to inclusive community growth and welfare will be confirmed through this step according to his statement.
According to Tenneti the TDP supported the bill amendments because it benefited Muslim women and youth who are part of the downtrodden Muslim community while expecting the central government to consider state flexibility while making rules.

The parliamentarian from TDP stressed about providing support to Muslim people who face economic and educational along with social challenges to bring them out of their current distress.
YSRCP leader Tenneti accused the Opposition for missing 20 out of 38 JPC meetings on the bill while explaining that his party believed minority people require special care for their welfare upliftment.
MP PV Midhun Reddy of YSRCP condemned the TDP stance regarding the bill. No minority member living in our state would give approval to their verbalized and carried out actions today. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made a promise to protect Muslim community rights so the YSRCP party established its position to support Muslim demands according to PV Midhun Reddy.
On Waqf bill, Amit Shah accuses Opposition of ‘fear-mongering for vote bank’
Amit Shah the Union home minister accused opposition parties of spreading false alarms about the Waqf Amendment Bill that the Lok Sabha had now submitted.

The Waqf bill amounts to religious interference with Muslim properties given by believers according to Shah during Lok Sabha discussions about the measure.
I endorse the legislative bill that my ministerial colleague hasorially presented. Since starting to listen to the ongoing discussion at noon I have identified many wrong assumptions across several Members about this matter. During the current session of the House efforts are underway to disseminate baseless statements nationwide according to Shah.
Shah declared to the opponents “Non-Islamic individuals cannot become members of Waqf.” There exists no legal procedure allowing Muslim institutions to hire non-Muslim managers while we have no plans to establish such an arrangement. A widespread untrue story circulates about the Act intending to disrupt Muslim religious customs as well as their given property. Anti-Muslim forces are spreading these allegations to intimidate the minority groups.
