Shark Tank judge, Vineeta Singh CEO of Sugar Cosmetics shared her views on the safety measures for women at work place announced by the West Bengal government.
Various safety mechanisms for women were announced by the Mamata Banerjee ledLeft Front government in West Bengal while the protest on rape and murder of a doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata is on. Later on the statement regarding the safety precautions, many people such as Vineeta Singh, a judge of shark tank and also the CEO of Sugar Cosmetics shared their opinions about it.
In the post , Singh starts discussing the guidelines of West Bengal for doctors wherein she quotes that night duty might be avoided to a possible extent by women. She goes on to expand on it and also state how this puts further restraints on women as ‘boys will be boys’.
“This is NOT the change women are seeking! Parents of daughters are already paranoid and protective as they live in fear. Can we not add to that burden with institutional curbs on girls? Every additional restriction is a subtle message to young girls that for their own survival they should not even expect to be treated equally and that freedom and opportunities will always be discounted for them,” wrote Singh in her post. Further, she talked about how she has two boys and that it is essential to raise boys ‘‘as kind humans who having understanding and respecting the concepts of equality consent. ”

The West Bengal government announced on Saturday an endeavour ‘Rattirer Sathi’ aiming at protection of women at their workplaces against crimes. “Rattirer Sathi or woman volunteers shall be on duty at night Safe zones will be identified and created for women, with full CCTV monitoring There should be separate designated rest areas with washrooms for women, security guards in the government medical colleges and hospitals, district medical colleges and hospitals as well as hospitals should be a combination of male and female security guards,” Chief Adviser to Chief Minister Alapan Bandyopadhyay said to the PTI.
