The Bharatiya Janata Party announced Rekha Gupta’s name as the leader of the House, meaning Delhi’s wait for its new chief minister finally ends today. She will take oath in a grand ceremony scheduled for February 20 at the Ramlila Maidan.
The decision was taken at a meeting of all the newly elected BJP MLAs at the party headquarters in New Delhi last Wednesday evening.
BJP leaders say the entire cabinet would also be sworn in along with the chief minister on Thursday.
The ceremony will start at 11 am. Lt Governor VK Saxena will administered oath of office to Rekha Gupta and cabinet at 12.35 pm.

Grand swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan. Expected to be very big, it is said that around 40 celebrities have been invited. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah, and many chief ministers of different BJP-ruled states will grace the function at Ramlila Maidan.
“As many as 50,000 where invited such as party workers, RWA, sections of society-top saints. This will be a very grand event in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Cabinet ministers would be present. It would last around 25-30 minutes,” said BJP MP Yogender Chandolia.
This is made that way because many people, from different walks of life, expect to participate in this event, and Raj Niwas could not accommodate them.
Thus, the BJP accomplishes a historical victory in the assembly elections held earlier supposed to have been at the beginning of this month, winning 48 out of the 70 assembly seats. The party returned to power after 27 years in the national capital.
The Aam Aadmi Party was the second party with a total of 22 seats. Congress did not register any seats, either.
