Ukraine-Russia: On Friday a senior Kremlin official criticized the US-Ukrainian plan for Russian-Ukrainian military ceasefire by declaring that it would provide temporary relief for Ukrainian troops.
The Ukrainian military would receive only a short-term pause from military conflict according to Yuri Ushakov when speaking to Mike Waltz who serves as US national security advisor.
According to him President Vladimir Putin would deliver specific details about assessments when he meets on Thursday.
According to Ushakov Russia seeks an extensive peaceful outcome which will defend their rightful interests in the region.
Our ultimate goal consists of obtaining these objectives according to Mr. Ushakov.
Ushakov believes in my view no simulated peaceful action measures are necessary under the current conditions.
The United States sent its delegates to Russia on Thursday to present their proposal for a thirty-day Ukrainian ceasefire to Moscow while demanding complete peace in the ongoing three-year conflict.
Putin in Kursk
Putin conducted his first Kursk visit since Ukraine initiated its surprising counter-offensive attack in August by praising advancements and boosting his military personnel.

Through his remarks Putin indicated that Russian forces stood on the verge of completely liberating Kursk for Russia even though Ukraine showed signs of withdrawing its troops from the advancing Russian positions.
The statement he addressed to television cameras expressed his certainty that all military objectives will be met so the Kursk region can become entirely free of enemy occupation.
Putin proceeds to visit military headquarters in Kursk region with chief of general staff Valery Gerasimov by his side according to video footage broadcast by the Russian Presidential Press Service on yesterday.
The Russian military forces have captured 24 settlements near the border region throughout the previous five days according to general staff chief Valery Gerasimov.
The Ukrainian army commander appeared on Russian state TV to inform viewers that troops were relocating because it was necessary to conserve their strength.
The Kursk region served as a vital strategic asset for Ukraine because officials intended to utilize it during peace negotiations with Moscow.
I put the mission to preserve Ukrainian military personnel above all else since the beginning of the worst military circumstances. The chief commander stated “the manoeuvring of defence force units to positions of better advantage remains our primary purpose for saving soldiers’ lives” through his Facebook post. This approach matches standard terminology of retracing steps.
He emphasized that the defending forces would maintain their positions in Kursk until such time as it became inappropriate or unnecessary.
The alliance with Ukraine along with other nations has confirmed that Russia deploys more than 10,000 North Korean troops inside Kursk region.
Russia took 430 Ukrainian fighters prisoner in Kursk in addition to 942 Russian troops who became prisoners of war according to Syrsky.
Putin stated that captured Ukrainian fighters should receive terrorist classification under Russian laws indicating extended sentences in Russian prisons.
Presidents of the Russian Federation are currently conducting trials against Ukrainian fighters who they classify as terrorists.
According to the Geneva Convention soldiers who participate in armed combat cannot face judicial prosecution because of their military involvement.
General Gerasimov announced that Russian forces recovered over 1,100 square kilometers (425 square miles) which corresponded to the entire area Ukraine had gained during its August 2024 offensive in the Kursk region.
No surprise
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer delivered his thoughts about Russia’s refusal of the ceasefire when interviewed on The News Agents podcast.

The Russian position regarding the truce feels expected by me and many others. They’ve made it pretty clear. The Russian officials have repeatedly displayed this position through announcement and media exposure.
Starmer made clear that he will safeguard Britain from entering military confrontations.
A strong security assurance promises safety for peace maintenance. When maintaining peace there can never be assurance.
“That is exactly what happened. There was a deal in place. Minsk stands as the name of this compromised agreement.
From my point of view it makes no sense to repeat the same error. President Zelensky wholeheartedly understands this because we previously attempted such an unsecured agreement and it failed to work.
