    Navratri 2024 Day 5: Maa Skandamata puja vidhi, significance, shubh muhurat, auspicious colour, and more

    Navratri festival began on October 3, and it will end on October 13. Out of all the rituals that are followed in every part of the India, Navratri is perhaps one of the biggest and literally means nine nights. Lasting for nine days, Navratri honours the nine avatars of Goddess Durga with each day of the festival. The nine avatars of Goddess Durga are Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Maa Skandamata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kalaratri, Maa Mahagauri and Maa Siddhidatri. In that, Navratri will be observed on fifth day on the date of October 7.

    All about Maa Skandamata

    Maa Skandamata is worshipped on the fifth day of the festival. The goddess derives its name Skanda from the war god Kartikeya the other part Mata in English translates to mother. She rides a fierce lion and has child Murugan in her hand hold.
    [] Lord Murugan is also known as Subramanya or lord kartikeya. Skandamata Devi is worshipped for fortune, deliverance, wealth and strength.

    Navratri day 5: Significance

    It is the strong belief that Maa Skandamata bestows her blessing on anybody or anybody praying to her provided that he/she is determined to serve her. In Hindu culture it is believed that a devotee has no right impurities like thoughts of lust, and the head and heart must only and sheerly be inclined to worship Maa Skandamata – only then the goddess of mercy deigns to smile on her devotee.

    Navratri day 5: Puja vidhi

    On this day devotees get up early and begin the day after taking bath. They wear new clothes for themselves, and offer their puja to Maa Skandamata. To them, flowers are used to present their Puja to the deity. Kumkum, incence sticks, ganjagal, yello flowers, ghee. On this day banana based bhog is offered to Maa Skandamata.

    According to Drik Panchang, the Brahma muhurat will start at 4:At 33 AM on October 8 and to 5:21 AM on October 8.

    Navratri day 5: Colour

    The official color for this day is white, which represent purity. It is a fair weather day and it is believed that at least those putting on the white deserve to be blessed by the Goddess.

    Other Days

    Day 6: October 8
    Goddess: Maa Katyayani

    Navratri Colour: Red

    Red stands for power and passion which correlates with the day of Shardiya Navrattro, the sixth day. Katyayani Devi is the deity which is worshipped on this day. The tenth form of Durga, known as Katyayani means power and dare.

    Day 7: October 9
    Goddess: Maa Kalaratri

    Navratri Colour: Royal Blue

    Royal blue stands for royalty, luxury and richness and it comes at the seventh day of Shardiya Navratri. This day is dedicated to Goddess Kalaratri who kills the darkness and ignorance in ones life. They symbolize might and shield within them.

    Day 8: October 10
    Goddess: Maa Mahagauri

    Navratri Colour: Pink

    Pink color represents compassion, harmony, love and falls in ninth day of Shardiya Navrattro. In this regard, devotees worship Goddess Mahagauri. She represents innocency and beauty.

    Day 9: October 11
    Goddess: Maa Siddhidatri

    Navratri Colour: Purple

    Purple is also spiritual signifying ambition, prosperity, and the last day of Navaratri. The last day of Navaratri is acknowledged to Goddess Siddhidatri, which represents supernatural power as well as spiritual knowledge.

    As it was reiterated on the fifth day of Navratri, PM Modi tweeted on platform X stating, “1000% respects to the lotus feet of Goddess Skandamata, the fifth manifestation of Goddess Durga. I hope all may get the boons of the Sukhdayini-Mokshadayini Mother. In this case there’s a prayer linked to her…”
