Actor Mukul Dev sadly passed away on Friday, May 23, in Delhi at the age of 54. The news of his unexpected loss has left the film community and his fans heartbroken.
Tributes have been flooding in from all over the industry, as friends and admirers remember him for his incredible talent, versatility, and the genuine warmth he brought to every character he portrayed.

Manoj Bajpayee honored Mukul Dev with a heartfelt message on Instagram.
He expressed, “It’s hard to find the right words for what I’m feeling. Mukul was like a brother to me, an artist whose warmth and passion were truly one of a kind. Taken from us too soon, too young. I’m praying for strength and healing for his family and everyone mourning this loss. Miss you meri jaan (my love)…until we meet again. Om Shanti.”
Actress Dia Mirza shared her disbelief, commenting, “Can’t believe this (broken heart emoji).”
Manoj Bajpayee and Mukul Dev shared the screen in the 1996 film Dastak, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, which also starred Sushmita Sen and Sharad Kapoor in significant roles.
Sonu Sood paid his respects to Mukul Dev, writing, “RIP Mukul bhai. You were a true gem. I will always miss you. Stay strong, Rahul Dev (Mukul Dev’s brother) bhai.”

Arshad Warsi also shared a touching tribute to Mukul Dev on Instagram.

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh expressed his sorrow over Mukul Dev’s passing in a heartfelt note on X.

Vindu Dara Singh’s emotional tribute hinted at Mukul Dev’s upcoming film, Son Of Sardaar 2, which is set to be directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and will hit theaters on July 25.
Actress Dipshikkha Nagppal, a close friend of Mukul Dev, also paid her respects. She shared an old video of them together on Instagram.
Her heartfelt caption read, “I can’t believe you’re gone, Muks. What can I even say??? With a heavy heart, I can only wish for your soul to rest in peace. You were such a beautiful soul, an incredible actor, and a wonderful friend. You will be missed dearly. I’ll miss your voice notes. May God give strength to his family.”
Mukul Dev was last seen in the 2022 film Anth The End. He began his acting journey with the television series Mumkin in 1996, and his Bollywood debut came with the film Dastak, also released in 1996.

He was the younger brother of actor Rahul Dev, who took to Instagram to share a heartfelt family statement about Mukul’s passing.
The post read, “Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully in New Delhi last night. He is survived by his daughter Sia Dev and will be deeply missed by his siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev, and nephew Sidhant Dev. We invite you to join us for the cremation at 5 PM.”

Mukul Dev was last seen in the Hindi film Anth The End.
Born in New Delhi to a Punjabi family, Mukul had connections to a village near Jalandhar. His father, Hari Dev, worked as an assistant commissioner of police and introduced him to Afghan culture, making him fluent in Pashto and Persian.
Mukul’s journey into performance began in Class 8 when he wowed audiences by impersonating Michael Jackson in a dance show organized by Doordarshan, earning his first paycheck for that memorable act.
He was also a trained pilot, having studied at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi.
Mukul kicked off his acting career in television with the serial Mumkin in 1996, where he played Vijay Pandey. He later appeared in Doordarshan’s Ek Se Badh Kar Ek, a Bollywood countdown comedy show, and even hosted the inaugural season of Fear Factor India.
His film debut came with Dastak, where he portrayed ACP Rohit Malhotra. This film also marked the acting debut of former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen.
