A salary thread by a retired IAS officer’s X post became viral in two days, getting more than two lacks views. The following one was posted recently by the Former Secretary to the Government of India/ Rohit Kumar Singh Rohit Kumar Singh MIA. It had his appointment letter, which he got in the 1980s, for a job offer at TCS Mumbai.
It has also been claimed that Singh was part of the 1989 batch of the Rajasthan cadre. His journey started in the trainee post with TCS at Mumbai. He got reminded of his first job in the later part of September, enticed him to share some memories on social media.

Almost forty-two years ago, I joined TCS Mumbai, through a campus placement, at IIT Varanasi, commonly known as IIT BHU. He wrote when he was paid only 1300 Rupees per month, the view of the ocean from the 11th floor of the Air India building at Nariman Point was royal.
This post has become very popular and many X users have commented on it. This one comment in particular triggered an unsolicited response from one user who asked, “What was your initial offer of salary as an IAS probationer?” Singh answered, “2200.” Another user asked Dr Apurva as follows; “Sir, if you had joined what will be your current stance?” If you got a chance, would you try to join that group for the second time? It came to me: “Just asking out of curiosity.” To this, Singh retorted, “Not really.” From this company, there are amazing prospects in employment for sectors. This is highly productive especially when you are in a position to empower the society and improve welfare.
Singh is at the moment a member of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Education details of the member has been posted on the website of the commission and reveals that he holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
After joining TCS, Singh had to move to US to do a master of engineering in computer engineering at the Clarkson University, New York. He has cleared the UPSC civil services exam and become an IAS officer later. In the last 30 years, he has served in various important positions throughout his professional career.
People on the Internet appreciated the fact that he rose to the top with “beginnings from nowhere.”

It was good old days they said ‘golden period’ when relating the worth of money those credible days.
