A merchant navy officer from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was murdered; his body was then cut into over 15 pieces, put in a drum, and sealed with cement. It was said by the police that the crime had been borne from an extramarital affair between Saurabh Rajput’s wife Muskaan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla. The police investigation revealed a sensational story of love, betrayal, and brutality.
Short-Lived Joy
Saurabh Rajput married in 2016, and it was a sort of love marriage. Saurabh wanted to spend as much time with Muskaan as possible, so he left his Merchant Navy job. But his love marriage was not well taken by family, and the entire decision of suddenly quitting was somewhat brewing friction in the family. Finally, Saurabh decided to move out.
He and Muskaan rented a house together soon after in Meerut. In 2019, Muskaan and Saurabh’s daughter was born. But the elation was short-lived. Saurabh discovered that Muskaan was having an affair with Sahil, one of his friends. With all this tension between them, the couple even entertained the idea of divorce.
Ultimately, Saurabh backed out for the sake of their daughter; he instead decided to rejoin the Merchant Navy. The year 2023 was when he went out of the country for work.
A Birthday Murder
Their daughter, Saurabh’s pride and joy, turned six on February 28; he returned on February 24 to celebrate with her. By this time, Muskaan and Sahil had become even closer with the decision to commit the murder.
According to their statements to the police, Muskaan put sleeping pills in Saurabh’s meal on March 4. As he slept, Muskaan and Sahil set about killing him with a knife. They dismembered the body and packed the pieces into a drum, sealing it up tightly in wet cement. The body disposal plan had time.
The Cover-Up Trip
When the locals inquired about Saurabh, Muskaan replied that he had gone off to a hill station. To convince people and block any form of suspicion, she and Sahil actually went off to Manali, using Saurabh’s phone and uploading pics on his social media handles. However, as several days passed with no contact from Saurabh to his family, they filed a police complaint.
The Revelation
Following a complaint against Saurabh’s disappearance, Muskaan and Sahil were arrested by the police. During their interrogation, they confessed to the gruesome murder. From there, they went on to shockingly enlighten the police about the location of the body.
The police found the drum, but their attempts to break through the hard cement with hammers and chisels did not prove successful. On-site, the drum containing the dismembered body parts of Saurabh was taken to the mortuary, and a drill machine was used to extract the last remains of Saurabh 14 days after he was murdered.
Police Remarks
According to Meerut City police chief Ayush Vikram Singh, the family of Saurabh Rajput lodged a missing person’s report following his disappearance for several days. Concerning the matter, his wife Muskaan and her boyfriend were detained.
During interrogation, they confessed that they killed Saurabh by stabbing him with a knife; then they cut up the body into pieces, put it in a drum, and sealed it with cement. The body has been recovered by the police and sent for an autopsy. Both have been arrested and will be produced in court, said the senior officer.

According to an NDTV report, Muskan had been planning her husband’s murder since November. She also bought two knives for ₹800, telling the shopkeeper that she would use them to cut chicken.
She also pretended to have anxiety so that she could see a doctor and obtain pills to anaesthetise Saurabh before killing him.
Muskan’s parents alleged that she and her boyfriend Sahil were into drugs regularly, and they killed Saurabh because he would stop their ‘drug sessions’.
As per the NDTV report, Superintendent of police (Meerut City) Ayush Vikram Singh said that Muskan had created a Snapchat account and somehow managed to convince Sahil that his dead mother was talking to him using that app.
Messages were not sent in the name of Sahil’s mother; rather, Muskan sent them in such a way that he began to believe that his mother had reincarnated and was talking to him.
With these messages, Muskan manipulated Sahil into accepting to murder Saurabh.
Police Have Said That Muskan Had Been Scouting Locations To Bury Saurabh’s Body
The senior police officer stated that Muskan began scouting for a burial site for Saurabh’s body. Muskan, during a conversation, rather casually mentioned needing to bury some things used in a puja (prayer ceremony) and started asking questions about burying a body, albeit her friends didn´t pitch in to offer her any help.
Muskan found out that Saurabh would return to Meerut in February to celebrate the birthday of their six-year-old daughter.
On February 24, Saurabh returned to Meerut, and the next day, Muskan put the drugs in his alcohol, but he didn’t drink it.
On March 4, Saurabh was allegedly stabbed to death after being drugged by Muskan and her lover, with his body being dismembered and packed in a drum with cement.
Muskan and Rajput got married in 2016, following a relationship, and they had a six-year-old daughter together. In 2019, Sahil reconnected with Muskaan after knowing her back in school through a WhatsApp group.
Gambit Heads Down the Drain
This is about how Mr Singh said and Mr Singh used to drink because of which his family practically abandoned him. Since that time, Saurabh’s family has not been in good terms with him, since he married Muskaan in defiance against their wishes, and then breathed down her neck in making way for going out of the home to stay in a rented accommodation.
“He’d go to his parents’ house to eat but the relationship wasn’t too great. He hardly spent time in the city for days, and two years travelling abroad, his family didn’t stay in contact with him very much. Muskaan knew about it and counted on being able to tell after slain and buried him that he went abroad because he would never return again,” said the officer.
After killing Saurabh, Muskaan told everyone that he had gone to a hill station. Then, she went to Manali along with Sahil and uploaded pictures from Saurabh’s phone to bolster her story. She also exchanged texts with members of Saurabh’s family, including his sister, but the plan unraveled when they became suspicious that he wasn’t answering their calls.
They then filed a police complaint, and Muskaan and Sahil were arrested when they returned from Manali, with her confessing to her parents that she had killed Saurabh.
Drug Den?
This is where Sahil shares an apartment on rent with two other guys and has drawn so many paintings that hint towards the fact that he is into drugs. One mural shows what seems to be Satan arranged around a star polygon with the number 6. There are many beer cans strewn on the floor aside from another mural saying, “You can’t trip with us….”.
In addition to the religious figures, there is also an illustration most likely of a joint being passed from one hand to another with the words, “Puff puff pass”.
