To what is being reported as one of the most unexpected cross overs of the year, the oldest member of BLACKPINK, Jisoo and former One Direction star Zayn Malik have collectively melted down the fans by teasing them with their new single, Eyes Closed. Jisoo posted a moody-looking silhouette of a man standing behind her in a social media post on Monday (Oct 6), creating a tremendous buzz on the internet as she left a cryptic teaser, writing EYESCLOSED scrawled across the picture.
The title only said, A duet is close. The male form was exposed in a follow-up posting, the fans were not mistaken in their speculations despite having guessed all along; it was Zayn Malik. The caption was a provocation, two voices, one orbit. soon.

The promo MV, released several days later, gives the briefest looks of Jisoo and Zayn in a low-key background, vocalizing over the chilling sounds – which is enough to plunge both fandoms into a frenzy. Reactions under the post are more of a full-fledged smattering: One user said, We sat for the collab of the year, and another commented, The voices together are GOLD I already love it so much! One of the fans shouted, “The heaven heard me” and another one made a joke, THE EYE CONTACT!!!!!. THE CHEMISTRY!!!!! Put me in the middle.”
The entire music video to Eyes Closed will be released tomorrow, and the fans are already labeling it as a dream come true that BLACKPINK meets One Direction, which nobody ever expected to happen but everyone has now been preoccupied with.
The teaser images on the Instagram page are a pose of Jisseong showing herself in the foreground, a male figure is in the background, his face covered but with some resemblance to the singer of Pillowtalk. The pictures point towards suggesting that the single will be called Eyes Closed. “Two voices, one orbit. This is coming soon, it is in the caption and Jisoo wrote it. Although Jisoo does not mention the name of Malik, the back of the head tattoo of the unknown singer has a resemblance to one that the former One Direction singer wears.
The possible partnership might have taken months before it happened. In July, Malik was caught at New Yorks MetLife stadium enjoying the performance of blackpink and carrying his daughter Khai. The old boybander subsequently went to Instagram to post one of the photos at the concert, with father and daughter hand-raising amid the audience. He captioned the post, ” BLACKPINKofficial @BLACKPINKOFFICIAL THANK YOU 🙂 ME and KHAI Loved it.
The timing is convenient: Jisoo today has a breake of Blackpink world tour Deadline, which began in Seoul in July. Having finished wrapping shows of the O2 Arena in London on Aug. 15-16, the group is preparing to restart the tour in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on Oct. 18.
The single would be the first new music that Jisoo releases since her solo EP, Amortage, in February. The title project performed her vocals on four different songs: Earthquake, Your Love, Tears and Hugs & Kisses.
In the case of Malik, the singer left school-cleaner band One Direction, one of the highest selling boy bands of all time, back in 2015, starting his own successful solo career, which has seen him venture into R&B and alternative pop genres that were never close to his 1D years.
