According to a BBC report, Israel has started a new round of attack on Iran. In the meantime, air defences in Iran were alerted, due to the air attacks,Iranian state media said.
According to Press TV, the missiles were shot down in the South of Tehran. The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) likewise announced regarding new attacks in west Tehran.
per IRIB, a city close to Tehran, Karaj, had also been targeted.
The BBC has confirmed a video, which demonstrates the results of a fresh assault close to Tehran.
This was in response to an attack by Israel on the capital of Iran on Friday, which struck the nuclear program of the country and also killed at least two senior military officers, bringing the chances of a full-scale war between the two long-time Middle East rivals.
It seemed to be the greatest assault on Iran since the war it had with Iraq in 1980s.
Senior officials and scientists were also killed during the operation. Gen. Hossein Salami, the leader of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard in Iran, was reported dead. Among others confirmed dead by state media include the chief of staff of Iranian armed forces, Gen. Mohammad Bagheri as well as officials and scientists.
Approximately 200 Israeli aircrafts participated in the operation on Friday and struck about 100 targets.Israel army chief spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin told that Iran had also fired over 100 drones towards Israel and that, all the defense systems are operating to intercept the threats.
Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran stated that Israel had extended its evil and blood-filled hand to a crime in our loved country and that it had more than proved its evil nature by targeting residential centers.
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu however said he hoped the attacks would lead to the collapse of the theocracy in Iran and also addressed the people of Iran saying that the conflict was not with them, but with the regime of brutal dictatorship that had oppressed them in 46 years.
