He changed the complexion of the game for India by taking two late wickets in the second session; number one Ravindra was out and New Zealand were reeling at 201 for five at tea.

New Zealand, to bowl, could never come close to the flotation of Ravindra’s dismissal just before the tea and they crumbled in the final session without much fight.

The young batter looked set for another big score but Sundar ensured he did not get going. Out of seven dismissals in an excellent spell on a day one wicket, Sundar underlined his dominance of hitting the off-stump to claim five of his victims bowled, one leg before wicket and the other caught by the eagle-eyed Ashwin in the second test of India vs New Zealand.

Indian spinner Ravindra clean bowled Santner (33), Southee (5), and Patel (4), while Tom Blundell was dismissed on 3.
