Despite having no star like Manoj Kumar in the lead the film continues to hold appeal for children as well as adults and is all the more a fitting homage to the martyrs that gave their lives for the freedom of India.
8. The Legend of Bhagat Sing (2002)
Based on the real events of one of the earliest Indian freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, who along with his friends in Hindustan Socialist Republican Association fought for India’s freedom, the film far takes us through Bhagat Singh’s childhood, witnessing the gruesome Jallianwala Bagh tragedy and ends with his death on 24th March 1931. It doubles up as a nostalgia for Singh’s action that played a role in the Indian independence process making it a good historical propaganda film.
