IC 814 The Kandahar Hijack trailer: The official trailer of the Netflix pending limited series has offered an intense experience of the longest kidnapping episode in India that lasted for seven days. What can a pilot do to save the 171 passengers in the plane’s fuselage while two armed terrorists occupy the cockpit and four others are walking around the aircraft with automatic rifles? “I am quoting the pilot’s manual,” this particular character avows; “it says that one has to follow the directives of the hijackers and avoid hastening the loss of life. ”
But will this strategy pay? So sit back as the producers make an attempt to bring the real life hostage drama of Indian Airlines Flight 814 ( IC 814) hijacked by five terrorists on the 24th December 1999 forty minutes after take off from Kathmandu- Nepal.
Netflix has shared the first teaser for the really expected limited series of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack that is based on the true story of the longest hijacking in India, which took seven days. .
During the hijacking exercise there were approximately one hundred and ninety people onboard the aircraft, the people included passengers, crew, and the militants.
The actual video, or more appropriately, the trailer is a full 176 seconds long showcasing scenes from the series, many of which depict the action happening within the aircraft, but most importantly, the rescue attempt happening on the outside. Real stars this show features Vijay Varma as the pilot, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Arvind Swamy and Dia Mirza and others. It is produced by Anubhav Sinha and Trishant Srivastava, and directed by Sinha.
“What is worth more – history being read years ahead? Or people caught on IC 814?” Swamy asks, establishing the sentiment for a mission that will focus on rescuing every person on board. However, the task is difficult because, the militants are constantly requesting the pilot to fly the plane to different destinations. It emerged that the aircraft that was detained for a week made a flight from Kathmandu to Amritsar and then to Lahore to refuel, onto Dubai and the final destination was Kandahar, Afghanistan.
The lives of all passengers and crew members are fortunate to be in the hands of the commander and the people striving hard on the ground. Varma’s wife for example confidently addresses media persons and informs them saying: ‘My husband will return but not before he brings everyone back home’. That is because when you love what you are doing failure seems not to be an option; it feels rather like work you have to do,’ Varma continues the suspenseful narrative.
“Always consider a thousand times before taking a life, but consider little before saving a life,” says Kapur to an official stressing the operation of prioritising and making sure that everybody is safe.
The six parts series depicts the episode of terror, a crisis, and heroes in portraying how the passengers and crew who are on their regular flight high up in the sky at thirty thousand feet felt the horror. “It continues the story of a team in India working against the clock, trying to understand the demands of the hijackers, and struggling to save all passengers on board,” the synopsis said when sharing the teaser of the series by the team. Its next release is IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack due for release on August 29.
Vijay Varma is the leading man along with Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapur and Patralekhaa in significant roles. This also introduces the OTT platform of director Anubhav sInha , who has earlier directed films such as ‘Mulk’, ‘Thappad’, and ‘Article 17’.
