While all the other actors had done prior research on their characters Thakur relied with the information about his character with the help of Anubhav Sinha, the associate director and the writers. He pointed out that he only focused on his character relate with Vijay Varma’s character and the one called Doctor.
Rajiv Thakur depicted the role of the Chief, the mastermind of 1999 hijacking, and he got great comments from his friends and the viewers. He pointed out the fact that great performances are usually acknowledged and that is why he has been receiving lots of messages from friends, as well as the Instagram followers, praising his performance.

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is inspired from the actual story of Indian Airlines flight 814 hijack which had happened back in year 1999. The flight was on the route of Kathmandu to Delhi on December 24 the airplane was hijacked with the intention of flying it to Kandahar, Afghanistan and that is where it remained until December 31.
Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the six-episode miniseries is inspired by Captain Devi Sharan and Srinjoy Chowdhury’s book Flight into Fear: The given article is intended to be viewed in the context of the larger corporation and as a work of popular literature; it can be best described as A Captain’s Story. Principal cast for the series are Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Vijay Varma, Arvind Swamy, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Dia Mirza, Amrita Puri, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Aditya Srivastava, Kanwaljit Singh, and Patralekhaa.
