Huma Qureshi: The much anticipated and Emmy nominated Netflix series Delhi Crime Season 3 trailer is finally released and in this instance, this episode is set to be the most intense and thrilling episode of the show so far. The new season picks up the disastrous and problematic issue of human trafficking, and there is a new dynamic between two great women- Shefali Shah as much-loved DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, affectionately called Madam Sir, and Huma Qureshi who enters the cast as the new villain.
In the trailer launch event, Huma Qureshi shared the reasons why she was interested in the show and why she could not help but take up this part. Who could say no to being Batman or Joker, who knows? When you tell two actors that one of them has to be Batman and the other Joker? she said with a laugh. And here we are, it was a great pitch.
Huma Qureshi disclosed that Badi Didi, her character was not like anything she has ever played on screen. Well, I believe that this was the most sickening, revolting personality I ever had in my career and I say that I mean it well, only in the best sense of that word thereof, said Huma Qureshi. It is the worst role I ever took but it was really fun. In case of playing a dark character, there is no law. You may do anything, and that was what I did.
Huma Qureshi said that although she usually leans to the positions involving women empowerment or having a strong point of view, this time, she was forced to leave her comfort zone. The reason is that it was not an easy task, as the individual I represent and the roles I tend to play have agency on behalf of women, a worldview. That-but, too, but in a very bad way, said she.
I have wondered a lot whether or not I should do it, but I believed that this show is such a significant reflection of our society. Having the negative role sometimes when the viewers are familiar with you and you enjoy what you are doing at work sometimes can bring out the point being put forward. Reason being, should my working on this show be taking more awareness, then it is, an honour.
In the case of Shefali Shah, the main protagonist of the show and Delhi Crime since the first season, the reprisal has been both exhilarating and fanning the fire. With the series, India having received the first international emmy award in the category of Best Drama, the series has established a high standard in the realist based storytelling.
“When thinking of the attention worldwide and the amount of pressure that is associated with it, Shefali remarked that she felt the pressure yesterday when we had begun promotions and was terrified. I fain would have gunned and fled under a rock.” said Huma Qureshi.

Huma Qureshi even mentioned that to win the Emmy was prestigious, although that did not affect her attitude toward the character.
At the time, we were performing the show, I did not think, Oh my God, this was awarded with an Emmy and I should improve it. I would have simply wanted to be honest with Vartika. That is not my intention, as every actor wants to demonstrate that he/she can do better. I would like to be as honest to her as I can be. I am extremely nervous, now I am out of my wits.
Huma Qureshi, in his turn, mocked at the pressure to continue with the Emmy heritage.
Tanya ( Tanya Bami, Head of Series at Netflix) and Apoorva (Apoorva Bakshi, producer) assured me that they are taking me to the Emmys-break my heart, guys! she said with a grin.
Seriously speaking, she meditated on how the Indian programs such as Delhi Crime are ringing in the world. I strongly believe that the world is now prepared to receive very hyper-local Indian content through a global prism, and that is very much what Tanuj ( Tanuj Chopra, director ) attempted to achieve this season. The crime drama Delhi Crime of season 1 and season 2 has demonstrated that, gorgeouslianely, and season 3 only continues that tradition.
Defining it as the most exciting season ever, Huma inserted that this time the story telling would reach the people across the border.
It can be anywhere in the world and one can still identify with it. Crime is something global- it sounds anywhere you go. We were quite conscious that it is not Indian stuff to Indian viewers. The notion is that increasingly more people in this region will watch it, as well as audiences around the world to be able to relate to it.
With a third season of the meeting in the pipeline, Delhi Crime is the most anticipated series.
As Shefali Shah, in her powerhouse characterisation of Vartika Chaturvedi, once again faces one of the most heinous white-collar crimes the society has ever seen, and Huma Qureshi takes the lead to play even the worst role she has ever performed, the show is set to explore even further the moral and emotional layers which form the core of the show.
This, at least, will be not only a thrilling crime drama, but also human strength, integrity, and the uncertainty about what is the correct thing to do and what is the correct thing to have the power to do, as the trailer already shows.
Delhi Crime season 3 also features Rajesh Tailang, Rasika Dugal, and Sayani Gupta and will be available on Netflix since November 13.
