The 83 rd Golden Globe Awards were held on Sunday, with host Nikki Glaser back to the stage, she directed her blistering opening monologue towards the celebs in the room.
In a gesture to her second appearance in the awards, she said, Just like Wicked, I am performing a follow-up. I, too, like Frankenstein, have been stitched together by a surgeon belonging to an unregistered European surgeon.
In what she termed as one of the most scathing digs, Glaser made a special mention of the dating history of Leonardo DiCaprio when she said, What a career Leonardo DiCaprio has had. You have done countless iconic performances, you have collaborated with every celebrated director, you have been named three Golden Globes and an Oscar, and the most remarkable fact is that you could do all that long before your girlfriend reached the age of 30.
Glaser replied in an apology that was playful in nature, that he was sorry he made that joke. It’s cheap. I made an attempt, but, as, you see, we do not know anything about you, man. There’s nothing else. Open up! I’m serious!” Leaving the One Battle After Another star nodding and thumbs up at the host to express his agreement.

She also made a shoutout to Best Actor winner Timothee Chalamet, saying both that he is the first actor to have to gain muscle to portray a ping-pong movie and that Michael B Jordan is likewise doing excellent work in Sinners.
In Sinners, Michael acted as two brothers–but may I not say so? Sounds funny, said Glaser, in joking, but she expounded on the point, saying he played twins. I do not believe it, we had two Michael B. Jordans. When this happened, I was what Nikki B. Jerkin’ said; that was awesome.
Jordan, who happened to be sitting beside his mother, could not help laughing in an awkward way.
Some of the largest Hollywood stories of the year, having at this point moved around the Epstein files and a lot more, were also covered by the host in her address.
She opened her joke with a comment on the hotly discussed Netflix-Warner Bros deal and said, So you just wanted to get down to business, shall we? We will begin bidding at 5 on Warner Bros, hear me at 5? and I can immediately revert to my nod of the Epstein files.
So many A-listers here, and A-listers, of course I mean those who are on a list that has been massively vetted. And the Golden Globe Award of Best Editing is to the Justice Department, said the comedian.
There were also digs at the celebrities present in her monologue when she referred to Sean Penn as a sexy leather handbag and she also mentioned Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson as the Steve Martin and Martin Short of people who had IQs under 50.
Nikki Glaser was the first lady to host the Golden Globe awards last year, and she was promptly re-hired to front the stage in 2026.

Continuing up, Glaser could not avoid mentioning Timothee Chalamet.
Though the comedian, as he said he was not going to get too tough on his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, the couple at the center of the non-movie talk as the awards season gets into the high-gear must have been mentioned.
Chalamet is nominated in the best actor in a motion picture, musical/ comedy in Marty Supreme. Nominated in the same category of Best Motion Picture, Musical/Comedy is the film of a self-confident hustler in the table tennis business who is relentless; and among its two co-writers, Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, are nominated in the category of Best Screenplay.
“You were so committed to the concert, Chalamet, the first actor to get fit to do a ping pong movie, which Glazer is rightly pleased about. He lost more than 60 ounces, it is crazy.”
The comedy white whale that is cracking a successful laugh at Julia Roberts, a nominee in Best Actress in a Motion Picture, drama, Clothes, After the Hunt was no exception, and Glaser actually landed a hit, sort of.
Just like Wicked, I’m another year later, Glaser opened up her monologue with the announcement that she was doing a sequel to her show by popular demand. Just like Frankenstein I was the work of an unlicensed European surgeon. The same way the nominated podcasters are being nominated this evening, I should not be this close to Julia Roberts.
The film star did make her trademark smile.
Having had such a successful hosting task last year, Glaser is aware that she has a lot of work to do when it comes to walking the fine line between funny, topical and cheeky and not walking the company’s stars out of the room and leaving them with a bad taste in their mouths.
The 41-year-old told CBS Mornings’ Gayle King before the Globes that you must be extremely sensitive when giving jokes that will not ruin the night of anyone, which airs on CBS and is streaming on Paramount+. But you too desire to provide the folks back home with something to laugh at, and you want to take fun of the folks that you are dying to have them make fun of you. Individuals back at the house would like you to mock the A-Listers.
