Ankur Warikoo Denies Ghostwriter Claims
A recent social media post by Nishtha Gehija – a chartered accountant turned writer – alleging that she had penned down the second book of Ankur Warikoo in under three months have created a social media buzz.
More recently, Warikoo replied to a LinkedIn post by Gehija detailing how she manages to be a full-time employee and a ghostwriter of books.
Gehija then wrote on the LinkedIn page “I finished reading the second book by Ankur Warikoo in less than 3 months”. Many times I watch people fail to start a book, and others who may not be as smart, hard working, or even as qualified as the former complete the book.
In the meantime, these ‘smarter’ people can spend years waiting for the miracle and look at a blank document ready to become a masterpiece! So, what’s the difference?”
She also explained what she knows about the actual writing; how she plans and organizes it, and emphasized on implementation rather than sheer brilliance.
“Currently, I write under other people and directly with some select high-end clients, and now I want to add consulting calls for those who will be writing their own books. You can book a call with me through the link provided in the link in the stories section,” she concluded.
It actually took me less than three months to write the second book for Ankur Warikoo. And I did it with writing the first draft of over 83,000 words, all the time working as a full-time manager for a 12-person team.
Meanwhile, I see hundreds of people trying just to begin their book,” Gehija stated in the LinkedIn post, making her a proponent of the roadmap of writing and execution acumen over creativity.
Ankur Warikoo Ghostwriter Claiming Social Media Post
The post gained significant traction, eventually being shared on X by user Sindhu Biswal, who tagged Warikoo and asked for clarification: “Wait! Quite honestly, I really would want to ask @warikoo to explain this on my timeline. The book was ghostwritten.”
Warikoo answered point blank, clarifying with his usual blunt fluency and wit. He refuted Gehija’s claim of having ghostwritten only his second book, stating: It is not true that Nishtha is not a good woman in her post. She did not write my second book.
She wrote the first one as well. My third book was also dictated by those other people – Elaine and Anabelle. They have also written my fourth book. In fact, allowing me to make this clear prediction: All the books, I will release, will be written by someone else.
Warikoo elaborated on the collaborative process behind his books, explaining the role of ghostwriters:
“Here is how it works: The author of the book expresses ideas, personal stories, and narrations.
This could be through different channels – use of interviews in retelling their life story (like writing an autobiography of Phil Knight about his time as Nike’s founder in Shoe Dog), or tracking the creator for some time (like Prince Harry’s biography) or in my case, using the information that I have utilized in my social media accounts.
Giving the definitions of what actually a ghostwriting is a “paid assignment” and then described how he worked with Gehija, Warikoo said, “This is not an easy task.”
You will be sifting and sorting through 1000s of videos, blogs, notes, notes, making sense of them, categorising and organising them and writing all of these down into a book.
I and Nishtha were on Zoom and she was pretending to be a student and was asking me questions and I was answering her. The activities of the callers were taped, and the tapes and calls were transcribed and then converted into the book at hand. A very arduous exercise and one she performed well as can be observed from the findings of this study.
The author of Do Epic S**t and Get Epic S**t Done, Warikoo, briefly entered the debacle soon after the post went viral. They are all lies,” he wrote, “Nishtha is lying in her post. They wanted her to write the second book but she didn’t write my second book. She wrote the first one as well…
“My third book was also written by someone else- Elaine and Anabelle. They have also written my forth book. In fact, here is a prediction – all the books that I release will be written by someone else,” Warikoo wrote in sarcasm.
The social media accounts of the entrepreneur and author help him start quite a number of debates.
