Father Beats 17-Year-Old Daughter To Death For Low Marks In NEET Mock Test

In Class 10 board exams, she had got 92.60 per cent – the marks that most students dream of getting. She was killed by her father more than a year back on the ground that she had scored low marks in a mock test.

Sadhna Bhonsle – a student of Sangli, Maharashtra – was studying to do pre-medical test which is called National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET and she was doing mock tests of it. She did not do well in her practice tests and this problem annoyed her father who was also a school teacher by name Dhondiram Bhonsle.

As a result of his anger, he beat the 17 year old with a stick severally. The beating injured the Class 12 student seriously and she has died in a hospital on Friday.

The father has been arrested and he has been reported to have confessed to beating her daughter.

During the attack, Sadhana Bhonsle had got injuries to the head. She was taken to Ushakal Hospital in Sangli where she died before she received treatment.

The mother of the girl had registered a complaint in the police station on June 22 saying that her husband had beaten her up because of low marks and she died at the hospital. The suspect father is on police custody awaiting to appear before a court of law by June 24. Police said, the case is being investigated.

In Sangli district in Maharashtra the police said on Monday that a headmaster had allegedly beaten his daughter, 16, to death because she was low in a test.

The official said this happened on Saturday night at Nelkaranji village in Atpadi tehsil in which the accused, 45-year-old Dhondiram Bhosale was reportedly furious at his daughter Sadhana, a student of class 12 over the poor result in an examination.

According to PTI report, the accused is said to have taken a wooden handle of a stone grinder to make flour; he then beat the girl up in front of his wife and son with that handle.

The girl was taken hospital in Sangli where she succumbed to the treatment. Senior inspector Vinay Bahir at Atpadi police station told PTI that the post-mortem report read that she died of multiple injuries.

He said the accused was arrested on the basis of a complaint by the mother of the girl.

Without telling Sadhana that she had performed badly, when the headmaster father asked the girl about this, she replied something that made the headmaster father frenzied. The youngster had said, Papa, what collector were you? And you were low in marks.” When she was saying all that the angry father caught up a wooden stick and began to beat her. The beating was too brutal that Sadhana lost her life.

Dhondiram is claimed to have continued to beat his daughter throughout the night. Sadhana had severe injuries and yet her father failed to take her to hospital. Rather, he visited a program in Yoga Day the following morning.

On his arrival, he found Sadhana lying in a fainting condition. She was taken to the hospital but she passed on before the treatment could start.

The incidence has brought great resentment to the village about this inhuman conduct. The accused father has been arrested by the police and further investigation of the matter is being done.
