As per media reports, Darshan Thoogudeepa is suffering mentally and has isolated himself from other prisoners. In a latest report, fans even conducted a Pooja for the actor’s wellbeing. He has been arrested for alleged involvement in the murder of 33-year-old Renuka Swamy, an ardent fan. As per BBC, even Pavithra Gowda has been arrested. Various sources like One India report how along with Darshan, 11 others were arrested when the lewd messages led to something sinister. As per Indian Express, "A total of 17 people have been arrested in the case so far." For the four prime accused, the judicial custody is extended until July 22, 2024. A special public prosecutor is assigned on this case and he has requested for isolated arrests in this case due to the serious nature of crime and chances of changing testimonies. The accused also include auto drivers, local goons and a pharmacist from Chitradurga. The deceased was a 33-year-old who commented on Pavithra’s post. After that, a gang of people were allegedly sent by Darshan to kill Renuka Swamy and throw his body on the streets.
