Burpee Marathon: Mann Sharma, Indian athlete, adventurer with a cause has made history by finishing with an unbelievable world-first-ever Burpee Marathon, which covered a mindboggling distance of 42.195 kilometres all using broad burpees, in a period of nine days, here at the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium. It is a world record officially declared by the World Book of Records, London as a new world record, besting previously by more than eight times the previous record of 5.1 kilometres and even more on the initial day of his marathon had Mann himself broken this record.
The World Book of Records, London, representatives were also present to formally accept and award the certificate and medal of the world record to Mann Sharma, which is a proud moment to the Indian world of the global platform, according to a press release.
Talking about his feelings upon attaining the historic feat, Mann Sharma said, this has been the most difficult and satisfying experience of my life. At the start of this adventure, all I wanted to do was to test the boundaries of human strength and demonstrate that it is possible to overcome the impossible by being consistent.
Each burpee, each kilometre, served as a reminder that power is not only in the body but also in brains and the heart. Nor was my record run typical of endurance, but of impact – raising funds and awareness for The One Friend NGO to enable them to educate and uplift poor children in India. This would not have been possible without the support of Sports Ministry and Fit India, my team, my sponsors, and all my supporters. This is a record shared by each of us and it is an evidence that with a good intention everything is possible.
Great Indian author Mann was presented with the award in the closing ceremony by the minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Dr Mansukh Mandaviaya, who was also attended by Apoorva Menon, National President, World Book of Records; Priya Sharma, National President, World Book of Records; Abhishek Kaushik, National Secretary, World Book of Records and Divyata Shergill, Founder and Editor, The Junior Age.

In his speech given on the felicitation ceremony, Mandaviya remarked that the brilliant performance by Mann Sharma is a source of great pride to the rest of the country. In order to complete a 42.195 km Burpee Marathon is not simply a record, but rather an achievement of the human endurance, discipline and strength of willpower. His incredible accomplishment is a solid contribution towards the youth of India by making them understand that nothing is outside of their realm with determination and hard work. Not only has Mann created some history, but has also made Bharat determined to ensure that the exercise of fitness is a way of life.
As a grand event jointly presented by Question Associates together with Fit India and statutorily approved by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Mann vs Burpees challenge has broken the barriers of taking things a step further and surviving. During the nine days, Mann spent his life training in the stadium where he did thousands of burpees in a day to cover the entire distance of the marathon which motivated millions in the country to have a sense of purpose and encourage them to exercise.
The World Book of Records representatives, London, hailed the achievement of Mann as a phenomenal and the first of its kind in the history of human endurance. They even praised India on the fact that she has produced an outstanding sports player that still continues to create some world standards in fitness technology.
The tale of Mann Sharma is full of undying determination and sympathy. Since his early days under the tutelage of the best football academies in Italy and Spain at Paolo Rossi Academy and Real Madrid Foundation Camp, overcoming injuries and personal tribulations, Mann has always made the lemonade out of the lemons. The efforts he made in the past, such as running 100 km in 24 hours to help the homeless, finishing 29 hours of burpees to educate children and walking 205 km in Delhi to Agra to sensitize society, all show a consistent desire to leave a social impact on the world via endurance.
Addressing the felicitation ceremony, Mandaviya stated that, the impressive performance of Mann Sharma is a great honor to the whole country. The accomplishment of a 42.195 km Burpees Marathon is not merely a record and is rather the achievement of the human endurance, discipline, and will. His great achievement is an overwhelming legacy to youth in India who are always to be reminded that nothing can be achieved beyond them when focused and not giving up. Such is not only history that Mann has made, but it is also a determination that he or she has given Bharat to ensure that fitness is a way of life.
