Bengaluru: Corporate chairperson of Confident Group CJ Roy committed suicide by shooting himself in the head on Fridays in his Bengaluru office when the it was being raided by the Income Tax officials, the police announced. He was 57.
At an earlier time of the morning in the week, the Income Tax Department had raided the companies that were associated with him. The alleged revelation during the raids was that he had assets that were not in proportion to the known sources of income.
This is an incident that has occurred today in the Ashok Nagar Police Station limits in Bengaluru where the Confident Group Chairman shot himself. This led to the immediate transfer of him to a nearby hospital where he was taken dead as declared by doctors.
The Income Tax team had been searching within the premises since the previous 2,3 days. The family members who are outside of India are connected with the police. So far, it is a case of self-shooting, added he.
The Confident Group is a leading real estate developer, which is prominently found in various south Indian states, with most noteworthy observers being Kerala and Karnataka.
As sources indicate, Roy was agitated because of frequent IT raids.
Born in Kochi, Kerala, CJ Roy is a Malayalam filmmaker and director as well as a producer of films, among which was a big budget film, Casanova by Mohanlal (2012).

Soon after he got into the privacy of his room, the situation became catastrophic as one single gun-shot was heard. As police reports indicated, the Kerala IT team had been tracing down his properties and over three days, even before the incident happened, the team conducted Income Tax (IT) raids. Although he was rushed to Narayana Hospital, he was pronounced dead and the business world was mourning.
