The Mumbai bandit killers who shot dead former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in Mumbai’s Bandra last week is said to have one of the suspect who was quizzed by the Mumbai Police after firing near the residence of bioscope hero Salman Khan in April this year was released for want of proof.
Police added in the probe that Shubham Lonkar has become an accused involved in conspiracy of Siddique’s murder who was a three time MLA and NCP leader and part of Ajit Pawar faction.
They said Lonkar who is now grasping with the Galaxy Apartments Bandra where a firing was done outside Salman Khan’s house is believed to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and one of the people who were picked by the police for questioning. Some claimed that his name was used by: Many others, who were interrogated in the case. They added that Lonkar was fired for allegedly harbouring the suspects in the firing case but the management could not substantiate the claim with sufficient proof.
Police had claimed to NDTV earlier that Lonkar along with his brother Pravin Lonkar were two of the main planners of Baba Siddique murder and had roped in two of the shooters Dharamraj Kashyap and Shiv Kumar Gautam. Yet another comment posted on Facebook on Sunday claimed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s role in Baba Siddique’s killing shot from Shubham Lonkar’s account was also fake.
While Pravin was arrested from Pune on Sunday evening, his brother Shubham is yet absconding.
For the first time, the police named the Lonkar brothers in court on Monday saying the Bishnoi gang could be behind Siddique’s murder.
