AC’s minimum temperature: If an energy-saving regulation is applied in India, your air conditioner will stop letting the temperature drop below 20 degrees Celsius, even during the summer.
It has been reported by Bloomberg that the government is changing the common setting for air conditioners on the market, preventing them from cooling too far and allowing the temperature to stay above 16 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit).
“In the end, power plants would report temperatures of between 20C to 28C,” according to Manohar Lal in a press meet in New Delhi on Tuesday. It is possible to do this with ACs at home, at hotels, and in cars.
At this early stage, the plan reveals that the government is working to improve energy efficiency as people use more electricity.
How the Indian government aims to carry out its development plan?

In recent times, the demand for power has exceeded what can be produced, so some areas have gone without electricity in the hot summer months of April to June, the agency added.
Pankaj Agarwal, the ministry’s top bureaucrat, said that air conditioners use about 20% of the total maximum electricity generated.
Within the move, every rise of a single degree on the AC can lead to a 6% reduction in energy usage. Officials project that raising the minimum temperature to 20 degrees Celsius across the country might lead to a reduction in demand of up to 3 gigawatts, Agarwal said as he quoted studies.
Berkeley University’s study stated that introducing stricter energy efficiency rules for cooling in India could reduce peak power demand by 60 gigawatts and avoid spending 7.5 trillion rupees ($88 billion) on new generation and grid infrastructure by 2035.
The amount of power needed by India

As almost 100 million air conditioners are in use across India, adding another 15 million every year, the country is dealing with a greater gap in electricity supply. There was a record high level of demand for power last summer at 250 gigawatts.
The rate of inflation is projected to go up by 8% this year, but the heavy rains in May brought relief for a short time.
According to Lal, even if the emergency requires up to 270 gigawatts, we will be able to provide that amount of electricity.
Again, the minister announced that the government is working on plans to get companies to set up 30 gigawatt-hour battery storage projects to make greater use of renewables and reduce fossil fuel use.
