Ravidas Jayanti 2025: Guru Ravidas Jayanti, marking his 648th birth anniversary, will be celebrated in various regions of north India on Wednesday, February 12. Several states have announced a public holiday for this occasion, while Delhi has declared a restricted holiday.

The governments of Punjab and Haryana have designated Wednesday as a public holiday for Ravidas Jayanti. In tribute, all government offices and schools in major cities such as Mohali, Chandigarh, Gurugram, and Faridabad will be closed.

Additionally, the Uttarakhand government has also declared Wednesday a public holiday. All state government offices, institutions, and educational establishments will be closed, with the exception of the secretariat and treasury, according to an official statement.

The state will also conduct a thorough cleanliness campaign, and the statues of Guru Ravidas will be adorned for the celebration.

“Service to humanity was his lifelong mission. Sant Ravidas Ji taught us to serve humanity without discrimination based on caste, religion, or class,” stated CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.

In Delhi, a public holiday has been announced for all government and public sector employees

“The Lt. Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi is pleased to declare Wednesday, the 12th of February, 2025, as a holiday for all Government Offices, Autonomous Bodies, and Public Undertakings under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, in observance of Guru Ravidas Jayanti,” read an order from the general administration department.

Ravidas Jayanti: Traffic restrictions in Delhi

A Dharam Sabha is set to take place at the Red Fort ground, accompanied by a shobha yatra/procession. In light of this, the Delhi police have announced traffic restrictions and are encouraging the public to utilize public transport whenever possible to facilitate smooth vehicular movement.

Restrictions, regulations, and diversions may be implemented on Netaji Subhash Marg, SPM Marg, DGB Road, Guru Ravidas Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, and other routes starting from 11 am.

Traffic will be redirected from Subhash Park T-Point, Shanti Van Chowk, Fatehpuri T-Point, Rohtak T-Point, and the roundabout at Jhandewalan, among others.

Commuters traveling to Old Delhi Railway Station, ISBT, Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, and Tis Hazari Court are advised to plan their journeys ahead of time to avoid delays.
