Yesmadam startup: delivering home salon services and an app based solution for beauty n wellness was in news recently after an email was leaked to social media stating that the company will let go workers / employees who reported high stress levels in a survey it recently conducted.

Lately, there were messages on social media stating that stressed employees were fired at the company. We would like to offer our sincerest apologies for such messages. Let us be clear: We are not so cruel as to take such a step. First of all, I want to thank my incredible team that considers me family and for whose dedication, work and passion all achievements are trying to be made. In my opinion, the posts on the social media were actually coordinated to draw people’s attention to a more severe problem of stress at work.

So recently a startup named YesMadam sent out survey to team members on how stressed they are AND? Guess what… fired the ones who had voted they are under extreme stress.

YesMadam added: ‘But to those who have expressed their anger and feeling by making comment of such or expressing a strong opinion we say ‘Thank you” The company made this remark in a statement that it released on Tuesday.

It was a spoof by the brand after all as some folks guessed

The brand's founders/leadership should be the first ones to get help to address the warped ideas of creativity they endorsed for this campaign. And start by firing their agency partners & PR/ marketing heads.

The company in the statement asked “Were YesMadam employees really fired for being stressed?” Absolutely not. Notifications. They weren’t laid off; they were let go because they needed time off to reassess. They were not fired; they were told to let go their stress. You didn’t fire them; you gave them the opportunity to take a break. They were not fired but encouraged to take their vacations and relax.”

    What was the leaked email?

YesMadam Said: Recently, we invited you to complete a questionnaire to know how you feel about stress in your workplace. Some of you chose to voice your concerns, which we appreciate and will continue to respect. This is a company that desires to be helpful to the staff and create a positive atmosphere at the workplace, so such comments have been taken into consideration.

In an effort to guarantee nobody is stressed at work, we have had to let go of employees that pointed out high stress levels. This decision is implemented effective today and you will receive additional information to this effect in your individual capacities. “Thank you for your contributions,” according to the letter leaked on LinkedIn.

People are likely to remember the instance where YesMadam Startup indicated they lay off many employees since they were too stressed. Such a move by these businesses elicited reactions on the site of LinkedIn and even in the internet generally. While some people became concerned with such business activities, others seemed not to understand what the entire story is all about, perhaps because it sounded more like a joke. The situation can be a way to publicize the company. Much attention was given to the story through media coverage.

Many people on LinkedIn are asking questions because of the leak about why there are layoffs. ‘This actually looks like a campaign that’s going to backfire real bad sigh’ said one user. ‘Hope this is not one of those publicity for the sake of it type of stuff’ said another user.

“This is the strangest, most unreasonable, and most unfair reasons for firing or laying off employees, or whatever else HR will make sound better. Please tell me this is a joke,” said another user.

    India’s work culture:

According to a report by MediBuddy and CII, nearly 62 percent of Indian workers feel burnt out, which is three times the worldwide average of 20 percent. This is due to stress from work and bad work-life balance, according to a report by MediBuddy and CII. The report also showed that many job seekers think employee wellness programs are very important when making decisions.

India’s work culture: People started talking about the work culture after Anita Augustine, Anna Sebastian Perayil’s mother, wrote a letter to the company’s India head, Rajiv Memani. She said that her daughter died due to stress from work four months after joining Ernst & Young (EY) in Pune. She said that Anna had to work late at night and on weekends without breaks.

The World Health Organization says that over half of the people on this earth work, and about 15% of all adults who can work are diagnosed with anxiety disorders. In addition, about 12 billion working days are lost every year across the world due to anxiety and depression, which represents a huge loss of $1 trillion in lost productivity for the world economy.
