A week after strange lights were reported hovering over an Indian city called Bengaluru, a NASA astronaut filmed red and green colours swirling over Chicago on a spaceship.
Meteor emission was captured by Astronaut Matthew Dominick of NASA on the Dragon Endeavour spacecraft on October 8.
These were recorded by astronaut Matthew Dominick himself using his cellphone on the Dragon Endeavour spacecraft on October 8.
On October 8, SpaceX’s Dragon Endeavour spacecraft astronaut Matthew Dominick captured a rare phenomenon on camera. “Red and green aurora look like they are dancing in this timelapse as we flyby looking out Dragon Endeavour’s window with Dragon Freedom visible,” he said in a post on X as he posted the video.
Nasa’s Astronaut Post on Social Media
The actuality in question which became viral on social networks has more than 200,000 views.
The astronaut from NASA said it was shot as he simply leaned outside of the small aperture of the spacecraft which was parked right in front of the International Space Station.
It moved out into the station from my crew quarters on the ISS when Crew-9 arrived. I now reside in Dragon Endeavor waiting for the ship to undock. We usually get most of our images from the cupola but sleeping has been fantastic here . This is the scene from the window tonight. I wish I was home with my family and friends but we would have missed today’s insane aurora if we had undocked today, he posted.
NASA video reactions
‘Mindblowingly cool’
The narrow and faint auroras, barely observable over cities because of light pollution, were the result of the most recent solar flare.
We tried to take a few shots for getting the settings, lighting, and framing correct over several orbital nights because the aurora was active due to solar activity. Yesterday he wrote “Posted a single frame yesterday of a sequence of approx 300 images captured 1.6 seconds between each frame.”
The video and image taken by the astronaut have enthralled the social networking sites user across the globe.
I ask myself how anything, which I see back at my home, is anywhere near as great as this place. Majestic,” said one user.
“What an incredible shot. Others commented with: Humanity from above looking at the same thing from below, its mindblowingly cool! it was just amazing.
“Must have been spectacular to see,”, began a third one.
