Nowadays, most of the companies selling dairy products are selling ghee, milk and butter with A1 and A2 labels. Seeing these issues, the ‘food security and standard authority of India’(FSSAI) has forbidden the companies to sell milk and butter by imposing this type of labeling.

FSSAI says that selling things with this type of labeling is very unfair.

Many food business operators (FBO)are selling products like milk and butter under FSSAl license by labeling them as A1 and A2. In such a situation, as soon as these things were discovered, FSSAI forbade selling the things by applying

such labeling and issued this statement.

FSSAI has stated that selling food under such labeling is not only misleading but is inaccordance with the principles laid down under the FSSAI Act 2006.

FSSAI clarify that the difference between A1 and A2 milk is based on the structure of a protein called Beta -Cassiene, which may mislead the consumer .

FSSAI has said that in such a situation, companies should remove such claims from their products which confuse the consumer.

At the same time, FSSAI has also given 6 months time to the companies to finish all the products made till now from A1and A2 level. And with that it has been said that there should not be such labeling with Fssai license on the subsequent products.President of Indian Dairy Association RS SODHI  has said that the FSSAI has taken such a historic step to protect consumers from the scientific claims of food and dairy companies.

Parag milk and food chairman ‘Devendra Shah’, said that  A1 & A2 labeling is a kind of drama and we expect people and consumers not to fall into such a trap.

    What is A1 and A2 ?

Nowadays, many milks are sold in the market with A1 and A2 labels. Due to which a debate has started among the people on what is the meaning of A1 and A2 milk products. Let us tell you that A1 and A2 are proteins which are found in cow’s milk. However, according to the breed of cow in different proportions, they are found in different milks.

According to the healthline, some studies have shown that A2 milk is more healthy, although research on this is still going on.

However, the effect on health depends on the breed of cow.

Casein is the most abundant protein in milk. Apart from this, different types of casein are present in milk. Beta casein are most common. This protein exists in at least 13 different forms.

    What is A1 Beta-Casein

It is found mainly in the milk of cow breeds found in northern Europe such as the Holstein, Friesian, Ayrshire and the BritishShore Thorn.

    What is A2 Beta-Casein

This protein is mainly found in the Gunners Jersey Charules and Limousin breed of cows.

Both A1 and A2 casein are found in regular milk, whereas in A2 milk mostly A2 variant is found.

    Is it beneficial for health?

According to some studies, A2 is more healthy than A1, But it affects different people in different ways. A study done on Chinese people has revealed that they have stomach problems when they drink milk regularly.  Whereas no such symptoms were seen after drinking A2 milk. A peptide called beta casomorphin 7 is released during beta casein digestion. This is why people think regular milk is less healthy than A2 milk.

Many research groups believe that beta morphine 7 is responsible for diabetes, heart disease, infant mortality , autism and digestive problems. Although research is still going on.

Researcher Steward Triswell shared an investigation in 2005 in a journal regarding A1 and A2 milks. In which they found no evidence to suggest that the proteins found in cow milk cause A1 beta casein to cause risk of diseases such as diabetes type 1 and heart disease.

    Avoid dairy products-

In today’s time, consumption of packaged food and packaged milk has become more prevalent in people’s lives. Even though people know that packed food and packed milk are causing so much harm to our health, they still use these things for convenience. Most of the people consume dairy products just for their convenience, however, they should not do this because dairy products are causing a lot of problems to our health.

If you want good health then avoid packed food and packed milk as much as possible and consume as much fresh milk as possible.

You should also reduce the intake of butter  and ghee because it increases the  bad cholesterol level in your body and due to this, the risk of heart diseases seems to increase. Use fresh Milk as much as possible and use ghee which is pure. Use less of all the things like butter chocolate etc. dairy products.
