She is a 27-year-old SWAT commando of the Delhi Police who was four months pregnant and died when her husband brutally assaulted her and struck her on the head with a heavy dumbbell.
On January 22, after a series of arguments caused by financial reasons, Kajal Chaudhary was attacked by her husband Ankur who was a clerk in the Ministry of Defence. She had severe injuries to her head and was taken to hospital on Tuesday, where she died in the process.
Nikhil, the brother of Chaudhary, who is a constable with the Parliament Street police station informed them that Chaudhary had called him the day she was attacked. He also explained that when he was talking to her sister on the phone, Ankur started hitting her with the dumbbell. Ankur later informed him about the attack brutally over the phone in minutes.
Nikhil also accused Chaudhary of being continuously harassed by her mother-in-law and by her two sisters-in-law. It has also been revealed that Ankur had allegedly stolen the money belonging to the parents of Kajal.
Ankur has been charged with a murder case registered against him, as well as arrested and placed under judicial custody.
In 2022, Chaudhary was hired by the Delhi Police and was deployed in the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. According to the report, she married Ankur in 2023 and the pair have a one and half year old son who is stationed at Delhi Cantonment.
Who was Kajal Chaudhary?

In 2022, Kajal graduated. It is during this period that she encountered Ankur, who lived in Sonipat of the state of Haryana. According to the India Today, they became friends and got married a year later with the approval of the all the families.
She was assigned to the Delhi Police SWAT commando in 2023, and Ankur got an employment at the Ministry of Defence in Delhi, a post of a clerk. According to the report, the two then relocated to Delhi in 2024. The son of the couple is one and a half years old.
What happened on January 22?
Ankur called on and spoke to Nikhil, the older brother of Kajal who is serving as Constable in the office of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Parliament Street, when the two were engaged in a fierce argument on Thursday. Nikhil claimed that his sister made an attempt to explain what has happened but Ankur took the phone and grabbed it off her.
My sister picked up the phone and attempted to tell me what had been happening. Some of her remarks have offended Chaudhary. He grabbed the phone,” he informed Hindustan Times.
On the phone call, Kajal told him something obscene. Ankur then requested me to record the conversation and I could hear her screams. The voice call went dead and five minutes after that I received another voice contact with him. He claimed to have murdered her,” the quote of Nikhil in The Indian Express quoted.
Ankur said that he took his wife to a private hospital in Mohan Garden, as reported by the police. I went to the hospital as well, Kharki, in response to this, said that Kajal was unconscious and I had to go there there, as Ankur had informed me of his whereabouts.
The police say that Kajal suffered serious injuries to the head, after being hit a few times by a exercise dumbbell. On Saturday (January 24), she was taken to Yashoda Hospital and her condition deteriorated. But she passed away on Tuesday (January 27), because of her injuries.
Ankur had been first of all booked in a case of attempt to murder in Mohan Garden Police Station. Chaudhary however died after which the murder charge was filed on top of the case.
We have taken a case of attempt to murder and charged the husband of the commando, Ankur Chaudhary, the same night when the crime was committed. He was taken to court in Delhi and taken to judicial custody. With the death of the commando, the case has now been taken as not an attempt to kill by the commando but murder, according to Hindustan Times, Special Commissioner of Police, Madhup Tiwari quoted himself.
The Sihanigate Police Station of Ghaziabad got the news of her death first, which relayed it to the Delhi Police. On Tuesday (January 27), a body post-mortem examination was performed.
Bullied on a regular basis on dowry demands, family claims
The family of Kajal has alleged that she was being frequently attacked by Ankur and his family on the basis of give dowry related requirements. They said that they were harassed after only 15 days of their marriage. The family has made allegations that the family of Ankur had demanded a car and dowry.
About dowry, his family began making remarks on the wedding almost the next moment Ankur was married to them. She was then respected to live at Ganaur (in Sonipat) with her in-laws. However, because of these fights, they (Ankur and Kajal) relocated to a flat in Mohan Garden, as Nikhil quoted saying.
However, with the course of time, they went back to Ganaur where Ankur insisted on staying with his family. When she worked in Delhi, they were used to visit the Mohan Garden flat. This time they arrived on the Republic Day festivities on January 20, he added.
The death of Kajal was also reported with a story on how the husband thought Kajal was four months pregnant when she died. My daughter was a four months old mother. The mother is dead and the unborn child is dead. This has not been a single murder by Ankur; he has done it twice according to the words of India Today. According to the police, they have not yet made an addition of dowry charges to the FIR.
