The fanbase of Arijit Singh was shocked when the artist declared that he is leaving playback singing.
The beloved singer posted a touching message to Instagram, which proved that the singer will not be assigned to any new tasks.
Arijit Singh said, Welcome, Happy new year to all. I would like to thank you all in the role of the listeners who have given me all this love over the years. I am pleased to tell you that I am not going to receive any new assignments as a playback vocalist in future. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
It did not take long before the comment section was overflowed with disbelief, heartbreak and calls of him coming back to senses ever since Arijit Singh posted his message. The widespread shock was condensed to represent a cry of no, no bro, please, no, by actor Aly Goni. Rapper Raja Kumari remarked that it was time.
It was more difficult to accept to fans.

A comment posted regarding emotions was, abhi na jao chhod kar dil abhi bhara nahi.
Some other fan posted, my heart is broken!!!!!! This ain’t real.”
Hopefully, it will be a new chapter and not a goodbye, and one comment was, we respect your decision. Love a bit of indie of yours now, when that’s on the agenda.
Some of them held onto hope, one fan requesting, “Please tell me that you have planned this posting on 1 st April :(). The other one referred to it as The end of an ERA.
Because the responses kept on coming, fans have thought about how much they have tried to entangle their lives with the voice touched by Arijit Singh. A very emotional remark was that in which one said, Now who will heal me? Who will it be when everybody will not be? Why king..why..”
It was announced days after the release of his latest song, Maatrubhumi, off Battle of Galwan, found its way to the social media. Singh is not a holder of any official X account and the message was distributed under a personal handle, which is known to be used by him.
Although the singer never specified the reasons why he has decided that way, he emphasized that his creative path did not end with that.

“God has been really kind to me. I love good music, and hereby will be studying more and more by myself as a little infant artist, as I did before, in past times. To simply make it very clear that I do not plan to quit recording music.
Arijit Singh also stated that he also has outstanding obligations that will be fulfilled and assured the listeners that there will be other releases in 2026. Nevertheless, he put it very clear that he will not be signing any new film works in future.
Arijit Singh became an overnight success when Tum Hi Ho of Aashiqui 2 (2013) became a hit and made him the voice of a new generation of Bollywood dream.
The track was successful and this opened the floodgate to successful chartbusters like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (title track), Hawayein, Apna Bana Le, Ve Maahi, Sajni, Gehra Hua and Kesariya among several others.
His expressive style, which was emotionally conservative, over the years dominated the Hindi film soundtracks to become one of the most sought after playback which made him one of the most sought after playback singers during his age.
Both critical and popular success have characterized the career of Arijit Singh. He has won two National Film Awards in the category of Best Male Playback Singer, with Binte Dil, part of Padmaavat (2018) at the 66th National Film Awards and with Kesariya, part of Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva (2022) at the 70th edition.
