Himachal Landslide Update: A policeman who is working in the rescue operation said that the “chances of survival of the passengers are bleak” as a whole mountain came crashing down on the bus”.
At least 18 people got killed and several others still remain trapped under the debris in a private bus after a massive landslide hit to the bus on 7h October, Tuesday in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district, reported by PTI citing officials.

How the Bus got into the Himachal Landslide?

The private bus was carrying 30-35 passengers and it was going on its way from Marotan to Ghumarwin when the landslide happened in Bhalughat area in the Jhandutta assembly segment.
The Rescue officials said that 18 bodies have been recovered from the debris till now, while three people have been rescued and sent to the hospital.
The district administration and police officials are at the spot and stated that the rescue operation is going in full swing. The NDRF teams have also reached at the spot and are engaging in rescue operations.

A policeman who is an eyewitness and engaged in rescue operation said that the “chances of survival of the passengers are bleak” as the bus got under a whole mountain crashing down.
State’s CM Brief on this Incident
There is heavy monsoon at the area since Monday. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri have expressed their grief over the accident.
He also added that the rescue operations are going “at a war footing.”

He said, “Instructions have been given to the authorities to deploy their full machinery. I am in touch with the local administration and am continuously receiving moment-by-moment updates on the entire rescue operation.”
PM Modi on Himachal Landslide
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his grief over the loss of lives in the Himachal landslide and announced as ex-gratia relief of Rs 1 lakh to the next of kin of the each deceased.
PM Modi stated that, “Saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
“An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs 50,000.” said by PM modi.
