China, with its communist neighbor Hong Kong, is 18 women in the top 50. The richest among them is a former chemistry teacher Zhong Huijuan who started Hansoh Pharmaceuticals in 1995. It was in 1999 that she developed a breakthrough lung cancer drug that earned her name around the world.
The youngest is Australia-based Melanie Perkins at 38 years old who is famous due to co-founding Canva, a renowned firm that produces design software in 2013.

Falguni Nayar, a former investment banker nicknamed guju girl of Indian descent, who made a fortune of estimated US$3.4B is the founder of Nykaa, beauty products retailer, started in 2012, and is ranked #31 on the richest self-made women of the globe list in 2025. Nayar made Nykaa go public in 2021 in the process of becoming the richest self-made female entrepreneur in India.
Next behind her at #32 is Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, one of the richest self-made women of India who started a biopharmaceutical company Biocon way back in 1978 and is worth 3.3B.
